Ashlee Simpson has joined the growing cast of CW spinoff Melrose Place, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Multiple sources are telling EW, Ashlee will play Violet, a small-town girl-sex kitten.
The singer, songwriter and occasional actress did a stint on 7th Heaven as Cecilia Smith.
Others who have joined Melrose Place include Katie Cassidy (ambitious publicist Ella) and Michael Rady (aspiring filmmaker Jonah), according to EW.
The jury is still out on whether The O.C.’s Mischa Barton will join the cast. Sources tell EW Ashlee didn’t take the part Mischa is in talks to play. Personally, I want Mischa on the cast.
Melrose diva Heather Locklear is reportedly in talks to return to in some way.
The revamped Melrose Place will be produced by Smallville’s Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin.
