Ashley & Mary-Kate Respond to PETA (Sorta)

olsen twins furThe Socialite’s Life got an exclusive response from someone close to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen about their feelings on the PETA attack that was launched yesterday,

According to their source,

They aren’t phased by the attack on them from PETA. They’ve always come under fire for their fashion style, so the PETA attack doesn’t surprise them at all. They find it sad that PETA has put all of their time, money and resources into this attack on them and many other celebrities along the way, when they could be focusing on doing some actual good for animals.

While I personally wish they’d wear less fur, I think this is a very mature response. How do you feel about it?

The girls are right about not being the only ones. If they have to be ripped into by this group of people, everyone else who wears real fur should be ripped into as well. Why should the girls be the only ones?

God bless you and them always!!!

    PETA does target other people.

They dont really have an excuse for wearing fur other than ‘i value my vanity over another creatures life’ so any response they give was obviously going to be lame.

ha. Lame is right. This wasn’t a “mature” response. This was an “oblivious” response. The Olsen twins didn’t even acknowledge the message that their opposition was sending. This statement does not indicate any understanding that PETA’s issue is with their ethics, not their fashion.

A statement saying, “We are so far removed from the production of our clothing and the wearing of our clothing, that we have no idea where it comes from, and now that we know we feel kinda bad, but still have too much money to care,” would’ve been more mature.

I am soooooo glad that Mary-Kate and Ashley aren’t fazed by this and aren’t going to go “fur-less”. I’m proud that they are going to do whatever they want to do and, wear what they want to wear. It is nobody elses business as to what they do. rock on mk&a this is why i love them.

I don’t give a s**t if they are not the only ones who wear fur, we should make an example of fashion whores who have no regard for the torture that is inflicted on poor, defenseless little animals. How these hateful creatures include fur in their fashion line is beyond me. How anyone can watch the footage of animals, including domestic cats and dogs being skinned alive while they are still kicking and screaming and ignore the obvious suffering for their own petty vanity disgusts me. Anyone who comments without having seen this footage is in denial. Those ignorant twins have blood on their hands just like any fool who wears fur and dont even get me started on Dita von Teese

As much as I do not like or agree with the concept of fur as fashion, I think PETA sometimes has the habit of trying to force their beliefs on other people. Indeed, however, they are exercising their freedom of speech; so are Mary Kate Ashley (well, their freedom of fashion, I suppose). The pendulum swings both ways in that case. However, I feel that it would be more productive of PETA to protest outside the factories that manufacture fur goods, or places that detain animals that will be killed for their fur. Going to the heart and the beginning of a problem will start solving the problem much faster and more efficiently than going to the end, such as protest the people who wear the fur, after an animal has already been killed, after the jacket has already been made. If Mary Kate and Ashley do not buy it, someone else will. If the goods are never made, however, no one will buy it. Just my perspective.

I think many people are not getting the point here. If there are people who keep bying real fur than there will always be people killing animals or getting their fur while there are still alive. If there are no byers than people wont kill anymore!!!!!!!
Also you cant compare eating meat with wearing fur as fashion on ur back!!!!!That is cruel. Why dont we let the animals keep their fur.
Those murders take the fur of the animal (dogs, cats, bears etc.) while they are still alive and keep living after that.
That is cruel and i dont get why people cant see that.
Eating meat is different beacause we need meat to stay healthy. It has the most vitamins that people need.
But please they are nowadays many ways to dress nicely and nowadays we produce fake fur, too so that those people dont have to wear real fur.
I think peta is right. They did asked marykate and ashley bevore to stop wearing fur and they didnt!!!!!!
They could wear fake fur.But NO they dont!!!!
    Like many other people do.
Those girls are murders!!!!Why???? Because now they even have their own fashion line making real fur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    That is sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see, screw taking the high road. I mean who does PETA think they are spending money to try to bring attention to the latest fur whoremongers that are condoning animal abuse. The Olsens are giving sage advice by telling PETA to put it’s attention elsewhere to save animals. Yes, I’m being sarcastic. Their statement made no sense at all.

The Olsens moved from being well thought of and respected to irresponsible and cruel in my book. I wouldn’t buy anything they created, made, published, etc. I’ll go out of my way to make sure other’s are aware that they could care less about precious animals. Just knowing that over half of all fur comes from China, and does contain some dog and cat fur in the mix, makes me sick. To be a promoter of this is disgusting. To me the twins are disgusting.

ok just so everyone is on the same f-ing page, watch this vid and tell me that looking like a shaggy whore is still cool.

    http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=fur_farm

after you are finished (if you can actually watch the whole thing) then post a comment about mk and A about their fur “fashion” watch this vid and tell me that they are so cool for saying to peta “we like our fur, go away” are they really that cool for turning a blind eye? they really have no clue what they are influencing, THE KILLING OF INNOCENT ANIMALS FOR THE SAKE OF LOOKING TERRIBLE. in the end, they are a pair of anorexic, spoiled, over hyped, ignorant brats that they have always been.

^^^ That link you put up there didn’t take me to a video clip, but it did take me to a page that tells about what is done to the animals. It says that all of this stuff is done in China, that the Chinese folk are the ones who do all of this stuff to the animals. No surprise there. So why aren’t they getting torn into for being the one who actually do the stripping of these animals?

God bless you and the girls always!!!

I HATE that video. It makes me sick.
I do not understand why people wear real fur when there is fake fur available. I just do not see why it is necessary. I support many of the PETA ideas but I do not think that they go about it the right way. I guess animal lovers who did not know this about MK&A will have a different view of them, and perhaps lose some sales with there products/clothing but I think there could be more effective ways of going about it.
