Ashley Olsen Talks Women’s Fashion

ashley olsenLast night, Ashley Olsen sat on a panel with Isaac Mizrahi and RobinGivhan to talk the future of women’s fashion. The threesome touched on the celebrities-turned-designers trend, diversity in fashion, Michelle Obama and whether the aspirational aspect of fashion is a positive or a negative thing for women.

Ashley again stressed that designing is her occupation now and that she isn;t an actress or a celebrity anymore:

A lot of celebrities get involved because they want to slap their name on it and it will add to their brand. And for us, it was totally different. That wasn’t my point. For me, when I look at it as a celebrity brand, it’s almost silly to me, because I’m not coming at it from a celebrity standpoint.

Since later that evening, Ashley and Mary-Kate were honored at a CFDA inductees dinner, I hope people start believing her!

The Cut has some highlights, which you can read here.

The Huffington Post has a great recap of the whole event, which you can read here.

The panel sounds lively and filled with interesting discussions. I wish I could have been there!
