Avril Lavigne's Concert Faces Controversy in Malaysia

Avril Lavigne in concert in Vilnius

Despite protests demanding that Avril Lavigne be banned from performing in Malaysia by PAS Youth in early August, reports say that “Everything is moving very positively. We have spoken to the authorities involved and things look good. We’ve organized the show according to the rules. There is nothing wrong. We’ve reached positive and assuring feedback from the authorities.”

Avril was being protested by the Federal Territory PAS Youth group because, according to PAS Youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed, “rock and punk are not suitable for the young generation, especially so during the Merdeka month.”

The show will go on, however, on August 29, 2008 at Stadium Merdeka at 8pm![Source]
