Baby Borrowers to give teens the ultimate reality check

Teens will get the ultimate reality check in the new series The Baby Borrowers premiering tonight  (Wednesday, June 25) on NBC.

The show is based on the British program that asks five teenage couples to fast-track to adulthood by setting up a home, getting a job and becoming parents — first to babies, then to toddlers, pre-teens and their pets, teenagers and senior citizens — all within a couple of weeks.

When a real baby appears at their door, the couples must learn to divide feeding chores, change diapers and all that comes with being a parent of a baby (all aged six to 11 months old). Meanwhile, the real parents are next door monitoring the teens, able to step in at any time. Plus, one teen from every couple must get a job, leaving the other at home as a caregiver.

Completing the cycle, the babies will leave to be replaced by the toddlers, then the pre-teens and pets, and then mirror-images of themselves — other teenagers. In the last step, the couples will deal with senior citizens who themselves will require some care.

Will these teen couples make it in life beyond dating? Do they really have a future together? Do they have what it takes to be parents and be responsible? This show will give them an idea if they can make it in the real world.
