"Bam's Unholy Union" Premiers Tonight!

We all know that MTV reality marriages don’t fare well. We’ve talked about Nick and Jess, Travis and Shanna and even Carmen & Dave (remember that?). Bam Margera is one-half of the fourth MTV marriage and he is confident that he’ll fare better than the others.

“When a celebrity and another celebrity try to make it work, it usually winds up in a divorce because they’re too busy doing their own thing,” said Margera yesterday. “Not to mention their ‘thing’ consists of Frenching other people in movies. I don’t care if you’re an actor, people get jealous.”

Margera doesn’t do much French-kissing in his movies, although his next film project is called “Kissing a Good Man’s A-.” And his fiancée, Missy Rothstein, is a graphic designer at a sign company.

“Missy’s just a girl from Pennsylvania who has no desire to be an actor,” said Margera.

So why not let MTV film their relationship as they plan their wedding – not an unstressful event? “Bam’s Unholy Union,” premiering tonight at 9:30, will culminate with the blessed event. Iggy Pop and the Stooges will provide the music. Production on the show is ongoing, so the couple aren’t yet married. They got engaged a year ago yesterday, at the Cartier store at the King of Prussia mall in Pennsylvania near West Chester, where they’re both from.

Margera and Rothstein went to middle school and high school together until Margera dropped out on the first day of 10th grade. They still live in West Chester, mere minutes from each other’s family.

“Everything I need is in Pennsylvania,” said Margera.

And after construction is completed on a $100,000 skateboard ramp in their backyard, he may never have to leave.

Margera, 27, is comfortable around cameras. This is his second show for MTV. Rothstein, 26, was a little skittish about the project.

“It’s been quite an adjustment for me just because I’m a pretty private person,” she said. “The night before the first day we started filming, I woke him and I said, ‘I can’t do this. I changed my mind.’”

Now she seems resigned to her fate as one-half of the fourth couple to have their love life documented on MTV.

“Whatever happens, happens,” she said. “I’d prefer [the attention] to be directed toward him. I’m kind of shy.”

As for those other shows, Rothstein liked “Meet the Barkers.” But Margera had little patience for either.

“I saw like a half of an episode of both of them,” he said. “The one I saw of ‘Newlyweds,’ they were like trying to figure out what clothes they liked and didn’t like and they were tossing them off the balcony. I changed the channel. Same with ‘Meet the Barkers.’ They’re just sitting at a restaurant looking like they’re all stoned or whatever, scrolling through their Blackberrys. It was just so boring.”
