Barack Obama doesn’t want Lindsay’s help

"Ugly Betty" In New York Preview Party

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the Obama-Biden campaign was a little harsh to Lindsay Lohan.

After Lindsay Lohan spoke out against Sarah Palin, and for Barack Obama, word has it that she wanted to pitch in to help Obama make it to the White House. That she offered to host a series of events to appeal to young voters.

Sounds great, right? I mean, go Lindsay!! But apparently the Obama-Biden campaign wasn’t keen on the idea. An inside source says Lindsay ”is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us.”

They gave Lindsay a “thanks, but no thanks” response to her offer, likely as a result of the drama that Lindsay went through in the past (although she’s been doing so great lately!)

Despite the rejection, Lindsay was invited to several big Hollywood bashes held with other high-profile Hollywood celebs who are pro-Obama.

Drastic times call for Drastic measures, and Lindsay is only trying to help, she want’s her Celebrity to equate to something more important then this Capitalist Disney World, because it’s about to crash

when this happens, images will not help no body
even Obama won’t be able to avert it.and when
we are all on the street,we are not going to be
in any mood to oogle at the life styles of the
    rich and famous,

so hurray for Lindsay, for stepping out of the
Pretend world of Hollywood, this scores alot of
points with me,regardless of whether the Obama
camp rejected her offers for help

Larry, if I was Lindsay, I would be hurt by them rejecting me. Yet, on the other hand, if it was me in the same situation, I would understand why they would do it if I had made some past mistakes. Also, do to my experiences, I probably would have never asked Obama for his speaking engagement anyhow if a stigma was attached to my name. No, I am not bashing Lindsay or talking down about her. I am saying that, as Janie said, politicans have an image to maintain just like celebrities do. Once that image has been tarnished or tainted, if the politician or celebrity has to built it up again, they are going to have to stay away from anything “bad” because it can simply be labeled as “guilt by association.” Yet, past mistakes will always trail around them especially if they’ve been recent past mistakes.

It’s like Lindsay trying to stay away from the clubs for awhile when she got out of treatment. She can’t avoid them forever because Samantha works there, but she can learn to do things to try to protect herself when she is in there. She has more willpower than other young folks I know. And that is impressive itself.

Obama is no better than the rest of us. Of course, he isn’t perfect as well. He, as Janie mentioned, experiment with drugs. Does it make him a bad person? No. Does it make Lindsay a bad person for the actions that she committed? Certainly not because Lindsay decided to redeem herself on her own terms. And so has Obama. She is being a productive person, and I really like how she said in her interview that she decided to build herself up despite Samantha’s good influence. Obama quit using drugs and decided to further put his energies to politics. Not everyone who experiment with drugs or use drugs turn out to be a bum addict.

Yet, there are reprecussions for our past actions, too, especially when you get into the Hollywood or political business. Now, is this hypocritical/contradictory to what he has already done concerning drugs? You could argue yes, but their are others who are working on his campaign. They are advising him what to do, too.

So, at the end, what counts is that Lindsay tried to help his campaign. At least she reached out to him. For me, her action of reacing out didn’t go unnoticed–especially to her fans.

Bottom Line: Obama had drug issues in the past. The public is already aware of this. He’s done everything in his power to distance himself from hsi past. Lindsay had similar issues, but considering hers is much more recent has Obama and company hesitating. I don’t think Obama’s team has anything against Lindsay. They just have an image to maintain. IMAGE IS EVERYTHING! Yes!!! Politicians both Republican and Democrat are fabricators of the truth and dirty in many ways, but they still are delusional enough to believe their own lies.

    Anyhoo, L&E awesome post!

Here is my three cents worth.

When it comes to Barack Obama, he has an image to protect that is already damaged. If you’ve been following the politics since this year, he has had a few major scandals linked to his name. He has already been compromised somewhat in this election. When a scandal breaks out on him or is linked to him, he has to work 100% harder to convince the voters again why they should vote for him. Janie is right; being a politician is all about image and not only that it is about how they can persuade us to vote for them to become the next president.

You can interpret what the Obama camp did in a few ways. One way is that they did snub her. Another way you can interpret it is them protecting Obama further because of Lindsay’s past. Yes, I know better than anyone. You shouldn’t judge someone for their past actions. People make mistakes all the time, and when you look at the mistakes that Lindsay made, most young folks make them in this country, but not many young folks can bounce back the way Lohan has. I think that it is good that she wants to pursue other avenues besides being an actress. I mean you think about it. When you leave this life, do you really want to be remembered as someone with scandalous life? No, you want people to remember you with respect. Like anyone else in this world, the majority of us want respect. Same way with Lindsay, BUT for the Obama campaign it’s not personal–it just business. They can’t afford to have Lindsay on their campaign because she still has a stigma of her past attached on to her reputation. She is smart to build herself back up, as she says in Marie Claire, like Robert Downy Jr. did. He went through a lot of drug problems, too, and he is the comeback kid.

I think that Lindsay is doing enough by supporting Obama when she writes about politics on her blog. She does have a voice like the rest of us do. Yet, I’ve read an article tonight that she is establishing a company, too, to sale more of her leggings (which sold out quickly when she made her first bash) and sun tanning products.

And another thing to think about is…even though politicians and performers have similar experiences (the limelight, becoming popular, etc), they are also vastly different. Yes, performers can have a large impact on society like they always have, BUT politicians…they are bit more elitist than celebrities just because if you ask someone who they respect more…they would probably say a politician over a celebrity. It’s just the way that the majority of the people think.

Yet, this doesn’t mean that what the Obama camp did was right or wrong. I am looking at it from an objective perspective. Actually, if they played their cards right, Lindsay could have been an instrumental tool in their campaign. Think about it. Obama takes on someone has been through a lot of hardship, turns herself around, and he believes in her. He could have used that to his advantage. Yet, I supposed that people think more about image/appearance than reputation.

The real downside to all of this is that it’s given Michael Lohan another reason to say something.

I dont think you all have to worry about this because her publicist leslie said that lindsay was invited to plenty of political partys but she did not volunteer for any! so they didn’t know where this was coming from. Leslie also said that she didn’t think that obama’s camp would turn down any supporting voters so…Im not sure I believe this. I mean, It could be true but who knows? maybe linds will blog about it. Hopefully she does. Most likely her and Sam will have something to say about this because you know how they are! they are not scared to speak their minds LOL! I love that about both of their personality’s! They have that ” I just dont give **** what people think” type of attitude! Which in my oppinion is a good thing.

u know, this shit really pisses me off.
they think lindsay is some sort of fucking dumb idiot.
    she’s NOT an idiot.
what she did in her past, was IN THE PAST!
people still think she’s like the way she used to be.
    ppl are IDIOTS!!
screw obama; i never liked his ass anyways.
    GO LINDSAY!!!!!!

I agree with Dave. Even though, politicians are shady, it’s all about appearances. Lindsay’s past isn’t pleasant and Obama and crew are looking for a do-gooder with an exceptional public image. Unfotch, Lindsay isn’t there, yet. She needs a good body of work in order to be taken seriously as an actress. Ugly Betty is a good place to start, she needs to snag that good role in a major film to be taken seriously again.

i just wish that Lindsay would get a few more movie offers under her belt, have a new hit movie,a new album,a few more magazine covers, before she throws her hat into the political arena. while i commend her for being interested in politics as a young person,i think she should focus a bit more on her career and comeback, and vote in november. baby steps,as it takes a long time to build up that credibility from such a disasterous year as 2007,just my opinion. anyway,i have absolutely no interest in politics at this time,as i detest all of the candidates, and i just want to see my favorite movie star back on the silver screen…

I didnt minded that they said no,what i mind is the fact they leaked this, making Lindsay look bad. Why?To humiliate her?She voluntarily offered to help them.Obama himself admited to take drugs and was drinking heavily on his youth saying he dissapointed himself. And then he changed himself. Now Lindsay is bad?Thats why i prefered Hillary.Loser.
