Thus far, Beowulf has done quite well in theaters and has gotten some pretty good reviews. By request, here’s a place for all of you PittWatch readers to leave your own personal reactions to the film and share your opinions after seeing the film. I haven’t been able to see it yet, unfortunately, so until I get the chance I’ll enjoy reading your thoughts.
Be warned though, before you venture into the comments here. If you’ve read Beowulf (I loved it, one of the best English assignments ever), then you’ll know most of the story, but if you’re not familiar with it, there may be spoilers within the comments, so be careful if you don’t want someone spilling the beans!
Go forth, comment, tell us what you thought!
(The photo, which is from here, shows Angelina Jolie during the filming. So cool!)

I went to see the film and it was a masterpiece! I agree that i wish we seen more of Ange in it but all of the performances were ace! Couldn’t have asked for more really! Just can’t wait for it to get to DVD now! Angelina is one amazing woman
Six of us saw the movie in IMAX 3D last evening. We were totally blown away! The whole movie was just stunning, we had a 50 min drive home, and nobody could stop talking about the movie. During the opening credits, water starts falling, slowly, before you, and soon a shimmering wall of water has covered the credits. Angie was dazzling, and yes, I wish there had been more of her, it’s amazing how beautiful she is. If you can possibly manage to see it in 3D, make the effort. One of our group had seen it in the normal format, and he said the 3D made an enormous difference.
did i understand correctly, she was pregnant durring the making of this movie?
Angelina’s new movie Beowulf was great in 3D, but I wish there was more Angie. The music is very suspenseful, and there is also some humor in it. She did a great job of playing the protective mother of Grendel. I wouldn’t take kids below age 10 to see it because it is quite gorey and sensual. Great Job though Angie! I cant wait for the move WANTED and the other one called THE CHANGELING to come out…they both look good. I hope Angie wins an Oscar for A Mighty heart , because even people who are NOT fans are saying she deserves it for her performance!
I’ve seen the movie and she’s just amazing, wonderful and awesome as always. she has a pretty good voice also. although Grendel was a demon, angie played such a perfect, loving mom( as in her real life) that when he dies she sings to him, an incredibly touching song with an incredibly touching voice that I almost cried!! can u believe it!! have u ever cried for a demon dying in a movie??? she plays that good and she only does it with her voice!! you dont even see her at that scene!!! Our angie is such a strong talent and I curse the ones who try to show her the opposite on purpose, just to hurt her. But one thing they should know, she doesn’t even pay attention to them. Anyway, I just want her (deeply from my heart) to win another oscar this year. There’s no one else who deserves it more… with huge love to all brangelina supporters… IREM from Istanbul, TURKEY. :)
Hi, I´m from Sweden and I´ve also read Beowulf, since it was included in the litterature for the litterature course I took at Lunds university last year. I love it, especially because it takes place in Sweden and Denmark (not in England, even though people seem to think so), it is written in England, but it is an old story from the nordic countries. Beowulf is fighting the “goths” (“goter” or “göter” in Swedish) and that is the old name (still used today, I am for example an east-goth) for people from middle Sweden.
The movie is really cool, I just wanted to point out that it does not take place in England.
greetings from Klara
