Better Times Ahead for Bailey?

90920A1 WILSON C B-GR 03It’s no secret that our beloved Dr. Bailey has had a rough time of things lately. And not only lately, but for a while now. She’s had to deal with the guilt of working long hour days while leaving a husband and baby at home. She’s had to deal with her husband’s resentment of her career. She almost transitioned into a new career path, only to gain the Chief’s anger. And through it all, the woman has remained steadfast and strong. Her husband offered ultimatums and she did not give in.

As we saw in Holidaze, her father’s disapproval was a final straw for Bailey, who gave an impassioned speech at the dinner table, letting loose on her father in front of everyone. It was all very raw and moving and incredibly uncomfortable, but wonderful to see.

So the question that many of us have is: Is Bailey ever going to catch a break? Will things start to look up for her?

Shonda Rhimes explained explained it all thusly: “We’ve put her through a lot in the past couple seasons, and part of the reason we did it is because before that we really didn’t know Bailey. She was sort of an enigma and we wanted to unearth her.” On the subject of sunny days to come, the executive producer stated, “I think she deserves some happiness, and I’d like to see her get some.”

Hopefully that means that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for Bailey, though we have no way of knowing when the good times might start to roll her way.

Do you think it’s about time Bailey saw some happiness?
