Betty White’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ Appearance Made Us Cry, Eat Our Words

Dear Betty White: I am sorry for doubting you, and I regret saying I could care less about the hype surrounding your SNL hosting gig. Turns out, I DO care. Last night’s show breathed life back into SNL, thanks in no small part to your talent, spunk and fearlessness. The entire 90 minutes made me laugh (crusty muffins?!), cry (when Jay-Z dedicated “Forever Young” to you) and, yes, eat my words. You were always my favorite on Golden Girls, and after winning turns in The Proposal and other projects, it’s about time a new generation discovered how awesome you are; as for those who grew up with you,  it’s wonderful to be reminded how much we appreciate you — and regarding SNL, how much better a host you are than January Jones and other overrated younger stars.

I could learn a lot from you. We all could. Also, I’m so going to hell.
