Big Brother 9: The First Competition

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and Big Brother is playing Cupid! This season, the Houseguests are paired into couples they call “soul mates.” They will have to compete together, sleep together, win HOH together and will be eliminated together.

When they entered the house, they found that the bedrooms were locked and there were quotes about love on the walls. They realized that they were all single.

Sharon, a realtor from Kansas had just recently ended a 12 year relationship with Jacob. They were madly in love until Jacob cheated on her. They were reunited in the house. There were some very hard feelings on Sharon’s part. Wow! This should make for an interesting season!

Jen, the bartender also was reunited with her boyfriend Ryan; however they are still together and will be covertly working together in the house. No one else is supposed to know they aren’t entering as strangers. And to make it tougher, they were paired with other people. Ryan admitted that he was going to be jealous.

Here are the pairs:

• Alex – Amanda
• James – Chelsia
• Natalie – Matt
• Jen – Parker
• Joshua – Neal
• Jacob – Sharon
• Ryan – Allison
• Sheila – Adam

The last two teams to be paired up had to sleep in sleeping bags because all the beds were taken already. Big Brother never lets things be too comfortable…

Adam got off to the wrong start by calling Sheila “Ma”. Sheila was upset that she was matched with Adam and she wasn’t the least bit attracted to him. They hate each other. Yikes!!

Right away, Julie told them they would be competing together as couples in their first competition. The winning team got the sole power to evict another couple in just a few hours.

The competition was called “Falling for You.” One team member was suspended over a bed with the other member in it. The person on the bed had to grab onto the hanging one and stay suspended with them as long as possible. The last team to keep both members suspended won. They were eliminated in this order:

1. Sheila & Adam
2. Neil & Joshua
3. Amanda & Alex
4. Sharon & Jacob
Then they were told that there was a pillow below them that could get the winners $10,000 if they picked it up and then won the competition.
5. Allison & Ryan
6. Chelsia & James
7. Natalie – Matt
8. Parker & Jen: The winners, with the $10,000

They have a few hours to decide which couple they will eliminate. Jen is thinking that they should get rid of Sheila & Adam because of the negative energy. But Parker wanted to send home Ryan & Allison. (Jen won’t let that happen.)

Tomorrow night, we’ll find out who they decided to evict. But we may know sooner, if we have the live feed or watch Big Brother After Dark on Showtime. (And I’ll report it here, of course!!)
