Billy Ray Cyrus Comes to Miley’s Defense

TEEN CHOICE 2009: Miley Cyrus performs "Party InThe U.S.A." during TEEN CHOICE 2009 at the Gibson Amphitheater, Universal City, CA. TEEN CHOICE 2009 airs Monday, Aug. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Miley Cyrus’ 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance of ‘Party in the USA’ has sparked some debate with parents and the media. They say that her “pole dancing” was too much for a young girl.

Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, has come to her defense. He told Access Hollywood, “You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people”.

He went on to say, “She loves singing [and] songwriting. I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion. I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they want to make and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important.”

Do you think Billy is giving Miley too much freedom?
