Jordin Sparks, the most recent winner of American Idol, has revealed that she has already recorded four of the songs for her debut album and is scheduled to continue in the studio this week. About the album, Jordin said “It’s kind of [got] Kelly Clarkson’s pop edge, a little bit…and I recorded a ballad-y type song, like a power vocal song, and then I recorded just a really fun, fast one. I’m trying to mix everything together. I’m loving all the songs I’m recording, so hopefully that will come off the album when you listen to it and you’ll be able to feel the emotion.”
Blake Lewis, on the other hand, has completed eight songs on his upcoming album (Audio Daydream is the title so far) and this is how he described it – “It’s your favorite 80′s mix tape…very inspired by Michael Jackson, Prince, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, the Cure. It’s all over the map, really — very influenced by 80′s hip-hop, old school breaks, whatever…They’re letting me down the album I’ve always wanted to make.”
Jordin and Blake are hoping to have their respective albums completed before Thanksgiving and squeeze in recording sessions during times off from the American Idols Live Tour. That’s got to be hard on the pipes!

Yeah, I listened to Jordin’s single the other day…and my ears bled. I mean, it’s sounds just like every other mindless, hip-hop/pop crossover you’d hear on the radio every day. I was hoping for Jordin to do something more interesting, because she has a great voice. But, on the other hand, I couldn’t be any more exited for Blake’s album. It sounds like it’s going to be unique and really quite good. I can’t wait! I just hope the anticipated success of this album doesn’t go to his head…he seems so down to Earth. And not to sound like all those Blaker Girls to prattle on and on about how gorgeous he is, but he IS hot. And I love the title of the album. It’s so perfect! Go Blake! I’m rooting for you. :-)

You’re right, Ozzy – Jordin draws power from her audience. She needs to record before live audiences.

Thanksgiving ins’t that far! I am so happy for Blake’s album! but I am going to cover my ears every time one of Jordin’s songs comes on the radio.

I look forward to Blake’s CD. I really enjoyed some of the things he did on the show. I am concerned about Jordin’s CD however, because while I loved some of her live performances, the recorded stuff just didn’t compare. She sings with such emotion in front of an audience but it doesn’t seem to be the same in the studio.
