So, I finally got around to listening to Blake Lewis‘ cover of the 80s classic hit, “I Ran” featuring Darude. I am a huge fan of the original (all 80s music, in fact) so I was worried about what this would sound like.
My verdict – I actuallly really like it a lot! I don’t know if it’s because I was recently clubbing in Las Vegas and can see myself dancing to this (if I actually went clubbing in my everyday life, but I digress…). It, of course, stays very true to the original but I like the layers of modern techno-type beats. I especially like how it changes around the 1:45 mark. Very cool. Listen and let me know what you think!
WTG Blake! I think this is a great remix. I imagine it’s been tougher on him as he doesn’t fit a certain “type” of music genre. I will be one who buys the song. (Being an 80s girl myself )
I definitely like it but I was surprised at how different his voice sounds. If I had just heard it randomly on the radio, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t have recognized that it was him.
I really feel like Blake got a bad deal with not enough marketing. I hope he puts a new one out soon and that it does better, because I really love his music and I listen to him regularly.
