While serving time in prison for false imprisonment and assaulting a male escort, eighties pop icon Boy George said he spent some time writing while incarcerated. And, yes, he wrote a song about British songbird, Amy Winehouse.
He said, “When I was away, I wrote a lot of stuff, which will be released next year. I wrote a diary and songs. I got into trouble because I wrote on the wall, ‘Some things are past understanding, you just need a place to land.’ It was part of a lyric. I actually wrote a song about Amy when I was in prison.”
The song is titled, “Your Pain Makes a Beautiful Sound” and it is said to be about Amy’s catastrophic personal problems.
Here’s a snippet of the lyrics that he wrote:
“It was easy to make them love you / All you had to do was sing / Now it’s not enough to listen / They want to know everything.”
I love me some Boy George, if only he would reunite with Culture Club, then my life would be complete. At least he’s trying to stay relevant by writing songs about someone relevant.
Good luck George!
