With World Refugee Day 2009 just around the corner (this coming Saturday – June 20th), it’s excellent news to hear that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to help refugees. The funds which came from their Jolie-Pitt Foundation will help refugees in Pakistan.
The head of the UN Agency said that the situation right now in Pakistan is “the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade.” There are over two million displaced people in the country at the moment.
First it was a million dollars to help children with cancer, now a million dollars to help refugees in Pakistan – their willingness to assist people in need is so inspiring. Actors and athletes get paid a ridiculous amount of money and so many of them waste that money; look at how some celebrities end up bankrupt despite making millions because they blew it on ridiculous lifestyles. That’s why I love the way Brad and Angelina use their money. Yes, sometimes Brad will purchase expensive art, sometimes they fly around the world on a private plane, they have several homes and rent expensive homes when they’re abroad. But at the end of the day they give so much of their money to those who really need a hand and they make such a huge difference in people’s lives.

I am speaking my mind. It is fantastic to read how people like the Jolie-Pitts donate money to help childreb that we, or perhaps I should speak for myself, will never see, or get to meet. Therefore it is extra special nice to hear hor they donate their money to help other. We are also in the waning years of our lives, therefore, it makes me feel that this world may be a better place for these children because of people like Brad Pitt and Angelina Joliel.
I recently read that Brad Pitt and his siblings, his brother and sister also donated one million dollars to a hospital in Missouri to honour their mother, who is, in many ways like Angelina Jolie, but does not have the money to do so. Anyway, I thought it was a great gesture for her children to pay her such a tribute.
Unfortunately, there are needy people everywhere, and sometimes it gets to be too much, and that is why it is so great to read about Brad and Angelina making this world a better place to live in.
In our very own small way, my husband and I donate to the organizations, representing illnesses that have either taken loved ones, or have touched our hearts and left a lasting impression. So, God Bless the Jolie-Pitts for their donation, and also to Brad Pitt and his siblings for their donation honouring their mother, Jane Pitt.

Sherry, wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone who has large salaries would donate each year. I agree so much wasted money on fun. No one should ever question how the Jolie-Pitts spend their money. This powerful couple talks the talk and walks the walk.

They really give a lot of their money to those who need help and we should not forget how much they help by using their fame to bring awareness to the world!I know a lot of people(including myself) who learn more about UNHCR,for example,and try to help them because of Angie!
And yes,they have big houses and private jets but sometimes some things are necessary for their,and their kids,safety.

Sherry, I completely agree with you. They make so much money and give a lot of it to the less fortunate making a huge difference in their lives. They don’t have to do that but do it anyway. With that kind of money they can also do something for themselves, right? God bless the family!
I believe that’s the perks they have because of their jobs. They can Have private jets and donate at the same time. Which is what most people do, we may not have big jobs but we donate from what we have and still buy those expensive shoes we want:). I donate to Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. because I have this hereditary disease. It is so rewarding to donate your time and money. God Bless the Jolie-Pitts.
