Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie snag Teen Choice Award nominations

Although they’re quite far past their own teenage years now, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both received nominations for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. The awards will air on FOX at 8 pm on August 10th.

Cannes International Film Festival

Brad was nominated for the “Choice Movie Star: Drama” award for playing Benjamin Button. His competition is Hugh Jackman for Australia, Dev Patel for Slumdog Millionaire, Channing Tatum for Fighting, and Robert Pattinson for Twilight.

Angelina got her nomination for “Choice Movie Actress: Drama for her role in Changeling. She goes head-to-head with Nicole Kidman for Australia, Beyonce for Obsessed, Freida Pinto for Slumdog Millionaire. and Kristen Stewart for Twilight.

In all honesty, I don’t think they’re going to win. The award voting is open to teenagers (13-19) who can vote once per day online. That demographic is more than likely going to gravitate towards giving the award to Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. Still, considering that it IS the Teen Choice Awards, I’m just really happy to see that they were nominated, especially Brad because I wouldn’t have thought of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as being a movie that would be overly interesting to your average teenager.

What’s especially interesting though is that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are competing against each other too. Both of them are nominated for “Choice Celebrity Activist” which is amazing. I’m so thrilled that this is an award, I think it’s a great example for young people, no matter who wins. Brad and Angie are up against each other, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, Hayden Panettiere, and Natalie Portman.

I admire all five of them for their activism but I would personally love to see Angelina win for her hard work with the UNHCR or have Brad win for his efforts with Make It Right after he stepped up and helped the people who had been so beaten down by Katrina.

If you’re a PittWatch reader between the ages of 13 and 19, please go to the Teen Choice Awards website and register to cast your vote, and keep voting daily.

Good luck Brad and Angelina!

Not too sure what is meant by “Choice Celebrity Activist”. Actually when it comes to being an activist everyone is a winner. All the nominees in this category are deserving activists. Anyway, I want either Brad or Angie to get this. Who knows it might be a tie on that night.
I read that the Secretary of State fractured her elbow on Wednesday.

    appetizing, thanks for the link.
i find it very funny. i would probably think it was a prank call to if i was the designer, i mean, it’s Angelina Jolie were talking about here. i wonder what’s Angie’s reaction right after he hung up the phone? and how did she managed to convince the designer that it was really her. haha. Angie must’ve really liked that dress since she is eager to order it. :)

They’re between film shoots, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have kept busy.

First, it was the creation of the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, named after Brad’s mother, in his hometown of Springfield, Mo. And Wednesday, in support of Jolie’s eight-year relationship with the UN Refugee Agency, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave $1 million to help displaced people in Pakistan, a country she has visited three times.

The head of the agency, António Guterres, thanked the foundation for its assistance, calling Pakistan’s plight “the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade,” as more than 2 million people are currently displaced in the country.

Jolie will talk about her work in aiding refugees Thursday when she and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton celebrate World Refugee Day in Washington D.C.

Having just finished a four-month shoot for the thriller Salt, Jolie will be a stay-at-home mom as her family moves to Los Angeles while Pitt films Moneyball.

When I went to see the CCOBB there were many 12 to 17 year olds there. It really surprised me, but made me very aware that many children today still appreciate good movies besides the killing and sexual content movies.

Yes you are right appetizing’, I read that story too about AJ ringing the fashion designer Malcolm Harris..How cool is that, inspite of her hectic skeds she was still able to call the designer and not just let her PA’s do the job. Hands on woman, really amazing. I salute to that :)

As I mentioned yesterday, I was surprised that Brad and Angie made my grandaughters year book. There was a large picture and writeup about them and their children. The only other celeb’s mentioned were young performers. My granddaughters love reading about the Jolie-Pitts and are aware that they work hard and donate alot of their time and money for people who are less fortuate.

I read somewhere that Brad will be presenting an award. I can’t remember which website was it. And I was thinking at that time, that Time Travellers’ Wife will be premiering on that date. So will Brad be attending the premiere since he is producing or will he be attending the award show or is he still filming Moneyball then?

That only prove one thing that Brad & Angie’s followers are not only the adults but also the teens. Congratulations to them. I hope they can attend. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
