Brad Pitt and Bill Clinton at the Global Initiative

Both Brad Pitt and Bill Clinton were on hand at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York to discuss the current status of New Orleans compared to when it was first hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Brad Pitt

Brad was happy to update everyone on the progress being made by Make It Right and the homes that they are building. According to Brad the average utility bill for electricity for a Make It Right home is a shockingly low $35 per month. That’s amazing!

Meanwhile, Brad also pointed out that the cost of building the eco-friendly homes is dropping as well. Apparently the cost will be pretty much equal to that of a standard building by the time they’re done with the 150 promised homes.

In order to drive home the need for more eco-friendly homes and how attainable they are, Brad said, “We can no longer tell ourselves that implementing this technology is too complex a problem because it’s just been proven on this little spot on the map.”

I’m so proud of Brad and his work in New Orleans!

More photos of Brad Pitt and Bill Clinton at the Global Initiative below the cut.

This picture of Bill Clinton makes me laugh because it looks like he’s thinking, “what was wrong with the government that it took a celebrity to fix New Orleans after Katrina?!”

And meanwhile this picture of Brad Pitt… Well. “Rowr” comes to mind.

Nothing like a man who is both hot AND committed to making the world a better place!

First let me say that it looks like some one trimmed up his beard looks way better, although I prefer none at all. I wonder what AJ likes, hummm. and I also love his tousled hair. Good work on the houses and I hope to see lots more of these house of the future.

I watched the live stream yesterday and found the session really informative. I was so impressed with what Brad and those involved with the Make it Right foundation accomplished in the Lower 9th ward and what could be accomplished on a global scale. Dierdra Taylor did a wonderful job of not only giving people an idea of what it’s like to live in a MIR home, but also letting us know how the community in that area is beginning to grow and thrive. Now if builders would follow the MIR footprint, then we really would be in good shape around the country.

I have to confess I wasn’t interested in Brad & Angie’s personal life until they got together, but ever since then I have been totally hooked. They truly bring out the best in each other and have not only created a beautiful multi-cultural family, but have achieved so much with their humanitarian work and their acting. They really do complete each other.

I firmly believe that their is a plan for each one of us, from birth to death. And I believe that Brad and Angelina were destined to be together. If we were to make a list of all of the good works they have done in the 5 years they have been together, it would be quite long. Can everyone image how much good the Jolie-Pitts and their children will do in their life time.
The bad mouthers can talk as much trash as they want, but deep down inside their hearts they must know how wrong they are.

Brad — Bravo! — what big footprints for the rest of us to follow! I know nothing of construction… and I’m wondering how accessible it is for a commoner to build one’s own home from the ground up in the same green manner? It would be great if, somehow, because of Brad’s work here, there can be some sort of “tool-kit for how to build your house/business green” for public consumption. Just a roadmap to show us where we start: the basics, directory of green builders/contractors/suppliers, etc. for small-scale building… sort of like a “Make it Right Kit” on a microscopic level. If someone can point me in the right direction, please let me know — a million thanks!

i think it is wonderful that he cares and is doing something about it. of course he couldn’t if he didn’t have all that money from being an actor, i just wish all the weathy people would do the same, then we’d have a great country. I love all hiS pictures and follow his progress. HIS PARENTS DID A GREAT JOB, LET THAT BE A LESSON FOR ALL PARENTS, ALL THOUGH MOST OF THEM DO NOT HAVE HIS LOOKS AND TALENT. BUT STILL CAN HELP AMERICA.

amcs – thanks for the link to justjared! Those pics are really beautiful and touching. It´s easy to see that Brad is the most loving, caring and attentive father there can be. He seems to be so dedicated to Mad that it nearly brings tears to my eyes. The father-son duo sure had a great time in NYC. Mad seems both tired and bored in these pics. Tired because he and daddy sure stayed up late and bored because of those ever-present paparazzis. It´s always wonderful to see that both Brad and Angie truly spend some quality time with each of their kids individually and as a smaller groups. While Angie took Pax, Zee and Shi toy shopping in Toulon, France Mad followed his dad to New York. Hopefully the next time we would finally see Knox and Viv out with their parents. But pics of Brad and Angie out with the older children will do just as fine. Mad has really grown lately and is a tall young man. It´s hard to imagine that he´s already 8 years old! He´ll be a tall and handsome young man just like his younger brothers. God bless Brad, Angie and their children!
