Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and the kids take off

Today Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie picked up Maddox from Lycee Francais in New York when school let out. Both parents were looking awesome as always. Angie took a moment to stop and wave to the students and fans who were waiting outside.

After picking Maddox up, they headed back to pick up Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh and drove through Central Park, Harlem, and ended up at an airport in New Jersey. They all boarded a plane and left in the late afternoon for parts still unknown.

I wonder if it’s related to an advanced premiere screening of Brad’s movie, which will be released next week across North America.

Lots of pictures below the cut!

For every 2 studies that say kids are more stable if they live in the same house & neighborhood, another study says not so much. Among other things, I’ve worked in the mental health field for decades, and I can testify that, while same house/neighborhood is important, what matters more are family dynamics. When the parent(s) are emotionally absent, or abusive emotionally, physically, sexually, or psychologically to their kids, the kids are damaged even if they’ve lived in the same house forever with the same parents. If the parents hate each other, or one parent has serial relationships that don’t last, kids are damaged even they live in the same house. If a family – like the Jolie-Pitts – lives a nomadic lifestyle, and the loving bonds are strong, the love provides the stability needed. In my experience, there were many more ’stay-put’ kids with mental health issues than there were of the nomads.

‘Common knowledge’ is often wrong. There is no hard & fast rule cast in stone that children who live in the same house all their lives lead happy, successful adult lives, or that children with nomadic lives are doomed. ‘Common’ knowledge once held that women were not much better than children – that’s why fathers, brothers, husbands, and even sons had to approve all the women’s decisions and actions. It was ‘common’ knowledge that women were inferior and therefore shouldn’t vote, marry without permission, own property, or hold jobs like doctors, lawyers, or even teachers and secretaries at one time. It was ‘common’ knowledge that women were to blame if a baby was a girl instead of the more desired boy. It was ‘common’ knowledge that blacks & other people of color were sub-human. I just saw an HBO documentary on the 50th anniversary of the integration of Central High School, Little Rock, Arkansas; a fine upstanding Southern gentleman said it was common knowledge that segregation was biblical, and therefore God’s will.
