Brad Pitt arrives in Venice with Maddox and Pax

65th Venice Film Festival: Brad Pitt And Family Arrive In Venice

Brad Pitt has arrived in Venice with Maddox and Pax at his side. Let the Venice Film Festival fun begin!

There was no sign of Angelina Jolie, and no sign of Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, or Knox. Obviously, this causes some disappointment since we’re all hoping for lots of photos of Brad and Angelina on the red carpet.

On the other hand, the festival hasn’t started yet. Tonight is the charity dinner for Not On Our Watch, which will be hosted by Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The Venice Film Festival starts tomorrow night with Burn After Reading premiering. It’s still possible that we might get to see Angelina Jolie tomorrow. She might have decided to stay with the babies tonight and then fly to Venice early tomorrow to make it for the red carpet entrance.

It’s obviously just as likely that she won’t show at all since she only gave birth recently, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for a Brangelina red carpet event!

More photos below the cut!

It is nice to see these pictures. Couple of things I noticed. It appears that Brad and Pax have matching shirts on. The material and style appear to me to be the same. Question? In the first picture of Madd, Brad and Pax there is a woman behind Pax who is reaching out and touching him. Is this one of the nannies? Also, there is 35 pictures on JJ and and two or three have Madd in them. It appears that he likes to hide a little bit more. Well I am going to pray tonight that Angie will be with Brad on the RC. I miss seeing her also.

Mary Ann, maybe it’s just the camera angle that makes it look like the woman is touching Pax. Maybe it’s just a regular woman getting off the plane behind the JPs – she’s got a goofy grin as if she can’t believe she’s that close to them.

P.S. I love that all the reports I’ve read so far have dropped the “A” word when it comes to the kids.

804, this comes very, very, very, very late. Thanks for the link you posted at the “roseanne” thread for the terrific CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON tv spot. Just watched it, loved it.

804, I see that spot was for the Olympics – SUPER! What was it, 4 billion viewers?

I love how Brad and Angie let the kids be their own individuals. How cute is it that Maddox has green streaks? And it looks like Pax has white or silver in the front of his hair? Anybody else see those?

OT: Sonja, it’s obvious you care very deeply about a lot of different issues. Even though your post was in the “roseanne” thread a long, long time ago in cybertime, it has stayed with me. I couldn’t forget it, so I decided to answer to get it out of my head. :-) So the easy topic first: action movies.

Angelina has said many times that she does action movies to clear her head and emotions after doing very serious movies, e.g. A Mighty Heart and Beowulf/Wanted, or Girl, Interrupted and Gone in 60 Seconds. Angelina wanted to do something physical like Wanted because she was grieving her mother’s death, she had just finished A Mighty Heart, and she was due to film Changeling. She needed a release so that she didn’t stay in bed and pull the sheet over her head.

I know Europeans don’t watch only serious films because U.S. action movies and blockbusters do very well in Europe and the rest of the world. And there are a lot of great actors who act in these genre films: Sir Alec Guinness, Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Geoffrey Rush, Sir Ian McKellen, Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Edward Norton, Heath Ledger, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Robert Downey, Jr., Ewan McGregor, Tony Leung, Don Cheadle, Ejiofor Chiwetel, all the Ocean’s gang, and so on.

There’s no direct correlation between guns in movies and peace in real society. My husband pointed out that Japan has some of the most violent movies in the world, but there’s very little violent crime. He also said that Canadians have many guns but they don’t have the crime statistics that the U.S. does (anyone – please correct me if my husband is wrong).

One of the useful things about getting big paychecks in action movies is that it allows actors to act in passion projects for very little money, or buy rights to a book, produce a film, etc. And of course, the money is also used for humanitarian and philanthropic purposes.

In the U.S., and I’d guess the rest of the world, people like a variety of movies – not just a steady diet of serious movies. There’s nothing inherently wrong with action movies. Some European and other world cinema are shown here, but unfortunately fewer and fewer people like to read subtitles. And I don’t know if it’s the American character or just bad times (war, tanked economy, foreclosures, bank failures, high unemployment, etc.), but the mood is more escapist than introspective. It’s called denial. A slew of Iraq/terror-themed features and documentaries (including A Mighty Heart) failed at the box office the last couple of years.

Ligaya, thanks your the above post responding to Sonja. I can’t agree more! I love both serious sentimental movies and action movies alike. Most of the time, action movies make me feel more energetic but serious ones (like Babel, A Mighty Heart…) make me feel sad for a long time. So I think watching both will help you feel balanced. This is also true for actors. Making only serious movies will definitely make them feel depressed and off balanced, like Angie once explained why she had to do Wanted in between The Changeling and A Mighty Heart.

mary ann: i think maddox is a “peacer” boy, he is discret, it’s often the same thing, he is there but live his life and don’t care about the papz. pax is really a little top model, look at the way he makes a “hello” with his hand, so cute. (zahara is too a little actress… i just think mad is somebody really quiet).

the boys are too cute! it’s nice to see them again!

cher as catwoman, it’s a joke? or it’s grand-ma catwoman lol!

Thanks for these Sherry…I like that the JPs despite there being stories about them everyday, can just kinda disappear for long periods of time despite the paps camping at their home, have missed them though.

And Ligaya, as always top of your game girl.

Deana I saw the streaks also on Madd and Pax. And if you look real close at some of the pictures of Brad at the charity dinner and the red carpet it appears that he has streaks also. Maybe the kids did his hair. I love the way he looks, he appears to be so happy and content.

Ligaya I am sure you are right about that women. And boy I sure would have a goofy grin if I was that close. Now Ligaya, you have to play your cards right up in Toronto. Maybe you could brag about being Ryan’s Mom. All kidding aside I hope Ryan’s movie does real well. And thanks for all your insight on show business.
