Brad Pitt and Ann Curry sat down yesterday in New Orleans to talk about Make It Right, New Orleans, and his life with Angelina Jolie and their children.
It was taped yesterday but aired this morning on the Today show. Here’s the six-minute segment:
Do you know what struck me right off the bat? They were talking about how there are already eight families living in completed homes while work continues on the rest. Brad was saying how great it was to know that some families were finally home for the holidays after so much time since Katrina – and then when Ann asked him if he had met these families, he started talking about them by name.
It may not sound like a huge deal but Hollywood is made out to be selfish in general, but here was Brad, knowing everyone’s name, their kids’ names, which house they live in… That’s someone who isn’t just throwing money at a problem but someone who is getting as completely involved as possible in every aspect of helping out people who have been waiting for years to come home.
Brad was reluctant to talk about his family at first but he opened up a bit, saying how amazing it is to have these six kids from all parts of the world who play and laugh and fight. He admitted that no, having six kids is not easy, but you get so much out of it.
More details of the Brad Pitt interview below the cut.
He also talked about adoption and what it’s like to love a child that isn’t biologically your own and he confessed that he had wondered about the same thing, whether it would be harder but Brad said that it’s an automatic thing, you just love them.
Ann made me laugh when she said she was annoyed with him because she thinks she’s okay with a camera, and then along comes Brad with a big photo shoot of Angie and the kids in W magazine. Brad explained that his reason for doing that was because you don’t often get to see the warm, natural side of Angelina in other shoots. I agree with that!
Brad flat-out said he hates the paparazzi, differentiating between the photographers who take photos at special red-carpet events and the ones who climb over walls to scream your kids’ names to snap money shots. He said he thinks there should be laws against allowing them to follow after kids with cameras.
Ann asked the question about marriage, saying that once a reporter asked Angelina if she would ever get married to Brad and she said to ask him. He laughed about that and said that if it becomes important to the kids they’ll see.
It’s a great interview, be sure to watch it all!

What a great interview! I really appreciate that you post these clips, as I never know about them ahead of time to tape them.
I agree with Mary Ann. Brad does look unhappy when you see him, but it’s probably because of the crap he has to deal with from the “Media”. It’s very clear that he’s happy about his kids and his mate!! Let’s face it, Brad is a thinking person and he knew what he wanted regarding a family life… that’s exactly what he arranged to have. The life he is experiencing is a result of personal choice. Brad and Angie make beautiful music together; they have their own special rhythm. She seems to applaud his style and allows him to express who he really is at heart. She makes no fuss over his clothing appearance, facial hair, and his HATS. It’s like– whatever — if that’s what he wants to look like today, so BE IT!
Before Angie came along in his life, I never really knew what Brad was about (just a pretty poster face) even though I enjoyed his acting talents. But NOW… wow!!!
They bring out the best in each other. I remember her as very “out there/wild”. Look at her now. I’m very proud of her development and maturity. I wish them an abundance of happiness as a couple & as a family.
What a great interview! It was easy to see how proud he is of both his achievements in New Orleans and of his family. When Ann Curry first started to ask about his family he felt a little nervous but when he started to talk about his children he lit up. He is so proud of them. It´s easy to see that their backgrounds don´t matter to him. He loves Mad, Pax and Zee as much as he loves Shi, Knox and Viv. They´re equally dear to him. And that´s exactly how it should be. By adopting those three adorable children (Mad, Pax and Zee) he and Angie have given them a better life than they would have had in their home countries. In Zee´s case they also possibly saved her life because she was very sick as a baby. And look at her now! She´s a healthy, happy, feisty little girl who has loving parents and siblings! God bless the Jolie-Pitts!
I admire how much he has given so much to the New Orleans community. I know sometimes, it’s hard to believe that celebrities do things just out of pure, genuine kindness, but I do believe his heart is really in this project. There are people who aren’t as famous, just regular folks, who also devote their time and focus into charitable causes, and naturally, they should be commended. Still, it’s good to see that Brad and Angie are not complacent. They utilize their celebrity status to promote causes.
Thanks for posting! Pittwatch sure saves me a lot of surfing time, because I know I’ll find the latest news on the Jolie-Pitts without all the trash!
I’d swear Angie has a little Southern drawl in her voice when she’s in New Orleans. The same thing happens to me when I visit my family in the Midwest–I pick up that ole twang again! Angie probably soaks it up and doesn’t even notice it affecting her speech.
Great interview with Brad. He seems comfortable at home. Maybe he’s feeling that relief I feel I leave a foreign country where I speak only a little of the langauge….the stress of wishing I knew more! Angie sure looks gorgeous. I could look at her all day. Thanks, Sherry!

chose is words= choise of words
I love the way he speak , his sound and his chose is words.
thats a nice interview; Brad is relaxed. thanks
Hi, I am glad to see Brad Pitt back in New Orleans with his project (Make it Right) I also wld. like to see inside one of the houses. I enjoyed his interview and look foreward to seeing more of him and Angelina and kids. He truly is a Happy Rich Husband and Father. God bless him.
they will be married someday. they felt like it is now. i just love them together and they are together forever.
I have been feeling for a long time that when people say Brad doesn’t look happy, they might be right. But not for the reason they think, I believe that he feels that his life is different now and stay out my face. The red carpet is part of their jobs, but as he says he can’t stand what the pap’s do to him and his family. So I believe that is why we see him looking completely like it is driving him crazy. Angie she seems to be able to be pleasant about it. So now take that one step further and we Zahara who can’t stand them, and she is like that because she sees it in her Daddy. And then there is Shiloh who smiles and waves, just like her Mommy. And I agree with Kim, I also hate when they cut these interviews up into a million pieces.
I wish they would show the whole interview and not cut it up and jump all over the place. Then they save bits and pieces for later, what is up with that. Just do an interview and show the whole thing. I also wish Brad could have taken us on a tour of one of the houses they built, I can’t find a finished product anywhere. As for the papazz I think it is time they have to be licenced to take photos (like cab drivers) that way you could trace the photographer, and anyone getting to close in a private setting could be fined. I agree with the fact that there is a difference between the red carpet and events and going to the park with the kids. Its not right. I also wish the press would stop asking about the kids and about when they are going to get married give it up already. I want to hear more about their projects and the movies.
Sherry,
Thanks for the update. I saw the video and I think Brad said, “if it’s important to our kids, we will, we’ll do so” regarding marriage.
