Brad Pitt is an emotional man

Birth may focus on the mother, but that doesn’t mean the dad doesn’t feel sentimental. According to Dr. Sussman at the Lenval hospital, Brad Pitt was “perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional”. Aww. I love a man who can cry because his baby (or babies in this case) is being born.

He said that the birth was very straightforward with no complications and that Angelina Jolie had an epidural so she was very cheerful and talkative, laughing with Brad throughout.

Although the babies are doing just fine, Dr. Sussman didn’t give a specific day for the family to leave the hospital because in Europe the mother usually stays a little longer. With both my kids I was eager to go home by the end of the second day when I was being given the okay to leave, but after a day or two at home I found myself wishing I could go back so people were there to take care of me! So hopefully Angelina will get a decent amount of rest even though she’s probably fed up of the hospital walls by now and missing her kids at home.

Meanwhile, Brad spoke with the mayor of Nice not too long after helping to cut the umbilical cords of his babies. He told Mayor Estrosi that he is “the happiest father ever”. Apparently he was so incredibly happy that he kept saying the same thing over and over to everyone he spoke to.

The mayor himself signed the birth certificates at the hospital. Afterwards, he spoke to the Nice Matin newspapers and said, “[Brad] told me we chose one of the best hospitals in the world, one of the best doctors, one of the best medical teams. And also the most beautiful bay in the world.”

I can’t wait to see what the babies look like – I love babies!

Hi, this is my favorite site. I was watching the TV Guide channel and they were talking about the baby picx. Does anyone know if Brad/Angie are the deciding factor in choosing who will publish the photos of the babies, or do their reps pic. I really hope that People get the rights to the pictures. OK has been somewhat shady in the past. I can’t wait to see the pictures. I loved the way the photos with Shi turned out. The pictures were very natural and unstaged. I looked as if we had peeked inside their home without their knowledge. I have noticed that with other celebs, the pictures are so stylized and posed. The female star is always so over made up. Everything looks too perfect. Brad and Angie’s last photos were so normal. I really appreciated how they did not go overboard and make it look like a fashion shot. I hope these are the same way. I was so disapointed with J Lo pictures. If felt more like a fashion shot than a mother with her children. The photos of her taken since seem more real and natural. I am really happy for them. I hope Angie will allow her Dad to become more involved in the children’s lives. Children deserve to have as many people who love them around as much as possible.

    Question: Has Brad’s parents arrived?

(The following is by the way, not meant to sound disrepectful to Angelina, just the press’s overemphasis on her as the only decision maker or participant in the process. She is great!!)

I am happy to read so many positive things about Brad. I really hate reading about “Angelina’s twins” or “Angelina’s babies.” Sometimes people forget that babies also have a loving father and there would be no babies without Brad. Sure, he can’t carry them or give birth, but he (all fathers really) is important and seeing his support and love has to make it easier for her, as she has said so many times.

This is a lovely couple, but many times with the emphasis on mom, the dad is forgotten or seen only as secondary. I think they make decisions as a team, including their names. Again, reading about “Angelina naming them” like Brad had nothing to do with naming Knox after his own grandfather. (This has been written in many articles) Brad and Angelina’s children are very, very lucky. I also respect Brad for thinking about the people who have been nice to them, which means they will then try to protect them, like Nice-Matin. The articles have been lovely and respectful, unlike the usual tabloid trash.

My point is, thanks for making this about both of them, as they are both happy, seem to support and truly love each other, and have great children together. Thanks.

I am so very happy for the Jolie-Pitt family. I was really hoping she would have a girl and a boy. Way to go Ange. Now they have 3 girls and 3 boys.So glad to hear that Angie and the babies are doing well. Wished I could have been a fly on the wall to see Brad’s face full of joy and happiness. I wish the Jolie-Pitts the very best.

It’s as I thought. Remember when Angie & Brad held a press conference after Shiloh’s birth? They chose to have it in Namibia & to invite only the Namibian press. The (white) media congomerates grumbled. I think that the JPs did this for a couple of reasons: to even the playing field & access between the local media & international corporate press, and as thanks to the community. They did it again in Nice!

“It was Brad Pitt who chose to give the scoop to Nice-Matin,” said assistant editor Olivier Biscaye. “He said to the doctor that the local media should be the first informed about the birth.” Nice-Matin put one of its most experienced reporters on the story, Jean-Francois Roubaud, who was given access that the rest of the media pack camped outside the Lenval hospital could only dream about. While security kept out other reporters, Roubaud was allowed inside the hospital and given easy access to Jolie’s obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann.

“We knew we would be the first in the world,” said Christophe Caietti, editor of the Nice-Matin magazine section, which spotlighted the twin’s birth with a special insert on Monday. Roubaud was given a heads up that the Caesarean section was going to be performed 30 minutes before Jolie went in for the delivery Saturday evening. The birth certificates show that Knox Leon was born at 6:27 p.m. and his sister Vivienne Marcheline a minute later. “Rouboud spoke to the doctor around 10 p.m., 9:45. We had all the details: the names, weight, one boy, one girl,” said Caietti.

Nice-Matin broke the celebrity story of the year when it published news of the births on its website at 2 a.m. Sunday, four hours before the print version hit the newsstands. The access also gave the paper other little exclusive nuggets, like Pitt’s first words after the twin’s birth, as reported by Sussmann: “Marvelous, wonderful!’ and the doctor acknowledging that the date of delivery had been moved up by about 10 days “for the mother’s comfort.”

On Monday, the paper featured a Page One picture taken by its own photographer of Brad Pitt (wearing the must-have item of the summer: a Panama hat) posing alongside Sussmann, Mayor Christian Estrosi and the Lenval hospital director, Bernard Lecat. “Everyone wants that picture. It is not for sale. It would be very expensive, maybe not a million dollars, but very expensive. It is the only picture from the day,” Caietti said. “But we won’t sell it, out of respect for the family.”

Oui, cherie Sherry, merci beaucoup. That’s the extent of my French, aside from pastry French.

Happy Bday to all lucky ones born on or close to the twins’ bday. In honor of the occasion, hubby & I had a French-themed date yesterday. First a French chanteuse serenaded us with well-loved chansons like La Vie en Rose – which is what the JPs are on right now, and I hope for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile, we were sipping our champagne mimosas toasting the twins, all the kids, maman & papa, the JP family, Nice & Vive la France! Tipsy, we went to the French Women Impressionists exhibit – beautiful work, mostly of mothers & children (one looked like Shiloh) because women weren’t allowed outside unless chaperoned so it limited their subjects, they were also barred from cafes, bars & brothels to which the male painters went.

There was a very nice painting of the promenade in front of Angelina’s hospital in Nice.

I hope that People gets to be the one with the pictures. They are really loyal in supporting the Jolie-Pitts. Well now I guess we just have to sit back and wait for the photo’s. I remember the pictures of Shiloh and the look on Brad and Angie’s face. Not that it really matters, but I bet these are going to be beautiful children. Zee and Shiloh are still young so it will be hard making sure they get alot of attention also. Madd is older and more settled I would think. And Pax looks like a little boy who just keeps on moving around all the time. We see so many pictures of Brad swinging him in the air or holding him up side down. My goodness are they going to be busy. God Bless all of them. And Sherry nice job as usual.

I’m still excited for them. I can’t blame Brad declaring over & over again that he is the happiest father ever. I can’t wait to get hold of the copy of the mag who will have the exclusive rights for the first twins pictures. I will buy copies for my friends too.God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
    Thanks Sherry for the updates.

Thank you Sherry for keeping us updated. This is the kind of stuff that totally warms my heart, so proud and happy for them. I can imagine Brad’s relief and joy that the childbirth, Angie and babies all doing well..this chapter in their lives realized with no complications. Tears of joy and relief, a beautiful moment in time. Angie was pictured giggling and laughing a lot during the pregnancy and I’m glad she was upbeat during the delivery too.

Congratulations to the Jolie-Pitt Clan. I love babies to. My cousin’s daughter is 4 months old and she is the cutest baby ever and loves when anyone is talking to her, she coos up a storm. I know Brad and Angie must be estatic with the arrivals of these two healthy babies. It is amazing to see these two together. You can see the love and respect they have for one another and their kids. I keep thinking Angie really loves Brad, I mean I know its true but to see it is wonderful. For a woman who is considered the sexiest woman alive to have a movie career as she does and finds that there’s nothing compared to having children. Thas she doesn’t care what it putting her body through physicall and emotionally, thay she loves her man so much that she is willing to have his kids, even though she never thought of having her own. And I hate to say it but I’ve been wanting to for a long time. Brad’s previous partner(no name needed) was someone who has a ok movie career could not find it in her heart to give the man she loves(doubtful) the one thing he wanted most in the world. After I saw his Oceans 12 interview with the cast and Diane Sawyer and the way he said he wanted kids and to hear him talk about it, man, I would be pregnant the next day. Anyway enough of my babbling. Congratulations again to the Jolie-Pitts on Knox and Vivvenne. I just love those names.
