Brad Pitt stops traffic in Russia – literally!

This is possibly one of the funniest stories that I’ve read in quite some time so I had to share it with all of you. Brad Pitt has been stopping traffic in Russia lately, and that’s meant literally. Police in the city of Omsk (Siberia) have been managing speeding traffic by using life-sized cardboard cut-outs of Brad Pitt as a deputy officer, so to speak!

The Russian traffic cops have been placing the cut-out of Brad dressed in a police uniform in some of the busiest intersections where speeding and car accidents were becoming a problem. They said that the diversion is working because the cars tend to slow down as the star-struck drivers spot Brad standing on the corner.

I’m glad it’s working because it could have completely backfired – imagine a bunch of cars driving right off the road because they’re too busy looking at “Brad Pitt“?!

This story gave me such a good laugh. You can see some video footage of “Brad” working as a traffic cop over on this site – both the article and the video are in Russian but you can watch and see them setting the cut-out of Brad in the intersection. Meanwhile, this site has the story in English.

Isn’t that hilarious?!

(The image I used has nothing to do with the story of course, it’s a still from Inglourious Basterds but I just wanted to use it because my goodness, it’s an amazing shot!)

I got my Harper’s Bazaar & People magazines today.I really like the picture that Bazaar mag uses, Angie is beautiful.
H.B article: THE POWER OF ANGELINA
People magazine:THE TRUTH ABOUT BRAD & ANGELINA.Brad frequently dropped by the set with the children. On their last visit, ” The kids brought their dog”.
After Jolie’s birthday,Pitt stopped by the Salt set again, this time in Washington D.C.,on June 8,before zipping off to Switzerland for the Art Basel show. It’s a hectic lifestyle, but somehow, says a colleague, they make it work”. And that means remembering the special days:For Mother’s Day,Brad gave Angelina inscribed jewelry. So the rumors? A friend says pay them no mind: ” They are very, very happy”.
    God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.

Angie will be in DC on June 18 to present an award for World Refugee Day, world Refugee poster contest for kids in elementary , middle and high school.Mary Ann from my understanding People called them(the reps) and they told their rep to respond “Not true” rather than “no Comment”. I know UsWeekly magazine claimed on their website that they contacted Brad’s rep. about National Enquirer article(lie)

So the powers to be in Sibera know who is a powerful personality. Nice story, so good to see some nice stories about Brad. I feel sorry for this couple, thank goodness they don’t read the blogs. It would be interesting to know what made Brad and Angie have their rep. contact People magazine to put all these rumors to rest. I think something happened that affected one of the older sons. Maybe their school mates said something.

haha…this is funny. I wonder how long before some girls steal the cutout Brad? I would …shhh.
Now, WHY can’t the tabloids cover some stories like this about the Jolie-Pitts?

I like June’s idea: ADD ANGIE and watch people just abandon their automobiles altogether and become pedestrians… just to hang out with our most blessed/powerful couple!!!

    That was REALLY FUNNY!!!
Thank you Sherry(and Gabriella) for the story!

In Siberia of all places… Wonder how they passed that suggestion during the morning meeting. Fun though!

Looking at the cover picture, just made me think of Brad’s acting. Think the best he ever did where he showed versatility and a side never before portraid by him (and done so well) must be in “Babel”. I just saw it for the first time last night by chance, and honestly, it’s probably the best performance he’s done. At the very least one of the top three.

Another thought inspired by the still from “Inglourious Basterds” is: Christoph Waltz actually out-acted the lot of them. Not that the others where bad in any particular way, but Christoph just did a tour de force with that character. A well deserved Best Actor award in Cannes.

Irma – if they did it in the US there’d be a huge multiple-car pile-up as all the paparazzi rushed over to take photos, thinking it was the real Brad Pitt! :D

  12. By angela

Irma, i would probably be taking one cut out of Brad at home if we have it here in the States. haha.

that was really hilarious. i wonder who thought of that idea and out of all the celebrities right now, they’ve chosen Brad?

  13. By irma

Why can’t we do that here int he States? God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
