A surprised Brad Pitt was awarded Best Actor in Venice today, collecting the award for his performance in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. The MC said, “I guess you forgot something here years ago. Brad, this is yours.”
He was a little surprised, as he made his way up to the podium to accept his award, and after the MC congratulated him on his baby twins, Brad laughed and said, “You can run but you can’t hide. It was an honor to receive this last year and it’s an honor to receive it this year. Thank you very much.”
Brad Pitt won the award last year for his portrayal of Jesse James in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
The MC then offered up a yellow flower for co-star and partner in crime, George Clooney. Ha!
(Edit: Sorry for the confusion, the wording originally made me believe he had won an award for Burn After Reading, which seemed odd since the movie hadn’t even screened yet, and it makes much more sense now to know that it was the award he had won in Venice LAST YEAR.)

Way to go for the Bradster ! He really is a great actor..i’ve always thought that from day one. Love to see him rewarded..i hope he wins an oscar before much longer.
Did a quick check at People. He was actually given his award from last year. Wish it was true though as People made a boo boo.
Brad’s tie was crooked. I just wanted to fix it for him, you know like you would do for your husband/boyfriend. Did this bug anyone else? Also, I bet he misses the “girls”.

This award was for last year correct? But don’t they also pick a new winner this year? It would be wonderful if he won it again this year. I also hope that he will win an Oscar one of these years. What would really be nice is if both Brad and Angie win Oscars this year.
I think Mary is right, I have also checked People’s site and he received last year’s price for The Assasination of Jesse James… I found that weird, but I suppose it makes more sense than winning a prize for BAR, since it is out of the competition and the festival goes on until 9/6, so it’s not really likely they would give this year’s prizes today…
I have checked the official webpage of the Biennale but I didn’t find any helpful information to clarify this story…
Well, never mind! Congrats to Brad in any case!! He’s a fantastic actor and I’m glad he received a prize in such a prestigious festival, even if it was last year…
Looking forward to BAR, by the way, but I think I’ll have to wait some more until it finally gets to Spain.
Yeah, the award they presented was for last year – for Jesse James. If you recall Brad and Angie were in Toronto for TIFF when he won and he found out over the phone. Besides, it would be too early for them to give out this year’s award, the Venice film festival just started (BAR opened the festival) and they announce the winners at the close.

I just love AoJesseJames and this award just proves how good Brad is in the movie. I will watch my DVD again over the weekend. If you didn’t catch it in the theatres or have the DVD, I strongly recommend you purchase it. It is a gem with beautiful cinematic effects. Congrats again to Brad!

Popsugar.com have lots of pictures of Brad & his sons leaving Venice today. Homeward bound. The girls, Knox & mommy Angie can’t wait to see them back home again. The premiere is not exciting without Angie, love her with Brad walking on the red carpet. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
I was looking at all the pictures of Brad and the boys heading for home. I am sure that Angelina and the girls and Knox will be happy to see them. Last night and again today I was thinking about Angelina. Most women have their baby/babies and about a week or so later even if they are breast feeding will be able to pop out to the store, library or whatever just to have a little “my” time. You can pump or make sure you are back before the next feeding. But Angelina has not been out of her home except for the time she was in the hospital for the last 3 months. She is not able to go out for dinner with her partner, she is not able to just go out and take a walk, let alone put Knox and Viv in a carriage and take them for a walk. I feel real sorry for this family, but people like me who love seeing and hearing about them are one of the causes of this problem. I hope that someday they will be able to find a place where they and their children can live a pretty normal life. My heart goes out to them because I just don’t think that will ever happen for them.

People reports that Diane Kruger was cast in Inglorious Bastards:
Diane Kruger isn’t up for a trophy at this year’s Venice film festival, but Wednesday she received a prize of a different sort.
“I just found out I’m going to do [Quentin] Tarantino’s next film with Brad Pitt,” Kruger told PEOPLE at the Valentino party in Venice Thursday. “I’m very excited. Quentin just called. I play a German movie star but I don’t want to give too much away.”
Kruger previously worked with Pitt in Troy.
