Brad Pitt to attend the Clinton Global Initiative

While we did see Brad Pitt in Spain for the San Sebastian premiere of Inglourious Basterds, only Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth were available for the Italian premiere this week.

Part of the reason for that may be that Brad likely flew home to France after his sculpture visit to spend time with his family because he has to head back to the United States in order to attend the Clinton Global Initiative this coming Thursday in New York City. He’s attending a session for “Infrastructure: Building a Better Future, Progress Report on Making It Right in New Orleans” (whew, long title). As a founder for Make It Right it makes a lot of sense for Brad to be there to report on what’s happening lately and how much more needs to be done.

The session is described as such:

This special session offers a progress report on this CGI commitment, demonstrating concretely how government, non-profits, and the private sector can work together to build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities while expanding economic opportunity. From one of the greatest disasters in American history, “Make it Right” is laying the groundwork for new prosperity and new beginnings on a foundation of affordable green housing. The discussion will include specific stories of the recovery in New Orleans, and launch a dialogue with CGI members on the future of green infrastructure and sustainable cities.

You can find out more information about the entire Clinton Global Initiative on their official website. In the guest section it seems that a lot of celebrities will be attending. I love when celebrities get involved in important issues.

I don’t imagine that Brad will remain in New York City for very long. Although there were hopes that Moneyball would be able to start filming this Fall I haven’t heard a peep about it lately so as far as I’m aware there are no current filming obligations. There’s probably no reason for Brad and Angelina to leave their France home for the time being and that’s a good thing since they both seem to be so utterly relaxed there!

(Thanks Faye88, for the heads’ up on this!)

Sherry – I agree with you. In my earlier post I speculated if Brad and Angie will fly the whole family to New York while Brad attends the GCI but I think that they won´t. Angie sure will stay in France with the children and Brad will fly back home immediately after his speech. Like you mentioned either Brad nor Angie will have any work related commitments right now so they can enjoy their stay in France for unforeseeable future. Although I miss both Angie and Brad and especially the children it´s only right that they can spend some private family time and enjoy each other´s company. The children will certainly miss their daddy a lot when he goes to NY but thank God he´ll be gone only for two or three days. God bless the JPs!

my 17 year old son is a fan of brad pitt movies. he collects his movies on dvd. some of brad’s earlier works are kind of heavy and philosophical but that seems to be the kind of nourishment kids want to feed their brains nowadays. anyway, one day we were talking about actors who played superheroes at one point in their lives. george c played batman once and we were discussing how brad did not get a chance to play one. my son said, he is Achilles (Troy) what could be better that that?” Spoken like a true fan. it’s funny how teenagers unconsciously emulate their favorite actors with the way they talk and dress up. i’m amazed at brad’s appeal to people of all ages and i’m glad that someone like Brad is a very good role model for teenagers not just because of his work but more importantly, because of his contributions outside the movie industry.

Marie the Hollywood Reporter says he has spoke to producers about the sequel too. Interesting planning a sequel before the 1st one comes out.

I just love the fact that this couple is on the go all the time trying to help this world become a better place. Day after day, week after week we see celebrities just wandering around wasting their lives. So many have personal problems. Maybe if they would follow the lead of Brad and Angie their lives would improve for the best. They would be helping themselves and more important helping others who need help.

Finally, I have time to indulge in a bit of JP browsing, and as usual I seem to have missed out on a lot.

It is so nice to see that MIR is being used as a good example that others can follow to help solve housing problems. It would be really nice if others will pick up on the idea of green housing. I’ve heard Brad say in interviews that the people who’ve moved into the MIR houses are really saving on utility bills and at the same time are environmentally friendly. Wouldn’t it be nice if all the houses are like that.

joliepittfanic, wanted to ask you again for the link to your JP website. For some reason my bookmarks were deleted. Thanks.

Marie- Sherry did a post last month about a rumor going around at the time that Brad was going to fly to London to film some scenes for the first Sherlock Holmes movie that the crew had decided to add in at the last minute (since the movie is already pretty much complete). That rumor was quickly proven false.

I’m guessing this latest rumor is just an off-shoot of that one.

I wish Brad will be the main architect of my future house! :) i love the houses in Make It Right that he built.. he’s an inspiration to many for all the things his doing..

OT: just read from Splash News

Angelina Jolie has said she is a “dedicated mother” and “really quite normal”.

Angelina, 34, and partner Brad Pitt, 45, are parents to six young children and she said that she really is just like any other mothers around the world.

    She told Britain’s OK! magazine:

“I am just a dedicated mother and really quite normal. I dedicate my free time to my United Nations work – I have a sincere interest in social issues.

“At the same time, my main focus is on my children. I want to be with them for the big moments in their lives.”
Angelina and Brad’s children vary in age from 14 months to eight years old and Angelina revealed the older children help their mum and dad with their younger siblings.

“We have birthdays all year round! It’s chaos but we do manage somehow – we just try to have a wonderful time. Now the older kids get involved in planning the birthdays for younger kids.

“It’s one of the greatest pleasures of life.”

    - I like the way she said: “pleasures of life.” :) God Bless them!

kimmy- Thanks for sharing the interview. I think it’s one of those cut and paste jobs, though, as Angie has said some of the things, such as the birthday quote and quote about it being chaos, in other interviews…word for word.

Also, some of the “interview quotes” just don’t sound like things she’d say. In addition, I doubt she’d give an interview to OK (answering a few questions on the red carpet, maybe, but not an actual sit-down interview).

Anyway, fake interview or not, it’s a good one! :)

[...] Brad’s speech will focus on “demonstrating concretely how government, non-profits, and the private sector can work together to build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities while expanding economic opportunity. From one of the greatest disasters in American history, “Make it Right” is laying the groundwork for new prosperity and new beginnings on a foundation of affordable green housing. The discussion will include specific stories of the recovery in New Orleans, and launch a dialogue with CGI members on the future of green infrastructure and sustainable cities.” The whole thing with CGI is that the money being given away isn’t from Bill Clinton or his foundation. CGI just facilitates the exchange of government, business, and grant investments into certain charities or projects President Clinton and his team approve of. It’s a pretty smart program, and I’m looking forward to reading coverage of Brad’s speech tomorrow. [...]
