Brad Pitt's Make It Right debuts duplexes and double homes

I meant to write about this last week but time got away from me. We know how hard Brad Pitt’s Make It Right campaign has been working to provide housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina, and we’ve even seen some of the homes that have been built.

According to my favorite “green celebrity” blog (a fantastic site that provides happy news about celebrities doing good for the environment and the world), it looks like Make It Right is ready to start providing duplexes and multi-family homes. The article shows a prototype for the buildings as well.

That’s such a great thing to read about. All the homes are designed to be environmentally friendly and self-sustaining, but duplexes are even better. As the Make It Right director Tom Darden said, “And duplexes are right in keeping with Make It Right’s mission: They allow more people to live together with less impact on the environment and are more cost-effective to build.”

I love reading these stories!

Is it true that Angelina Jolie signed a deal to be the face of Armani? I loved her ads for St. John, hopefully its true!

Great designs. It is wonderful that Brad is looking at multi-family homes and keeping the neighborhood as it was. Kudos

On CNN last week they were talking about Brad for Mayor of NOLA. They were saying that alot of the NOLA citizens feel he would be a good choice. I guess they appreciate all of the good things he is trying to do for NOLA.

It’s a really great design – looks fantastic. Cant begin to imagine how the families must be feeling to see people like Brad Pitt actually start to rebuild NOla; make it happen; and we know how much this has meant to Brad. And now it’s all coming to fruition. As you say Sherry, it’s so good to read about this progress; makes you feel real good (for a change)!!

This particular house was built by Mike Holmes (of Holmes on Homes)and his crew a proudly Canadian celebrity contractor and the originator of the phrase Make It Right. Brad and Mike Holmes struck a deal for Brad’s foundation to continue to use the phrase (it’s trademarked by Mike Holmes) which included Mike coming down and building the first home (the one above). There was a big two part special on HGTV covering the building of it with Brad and Mike talking about it. It’s very good if you get the chance to see it. Mike also supports childrens charities (SOS Villages) through his foundation so it was a big win-win for all involved. As a business owner both Brad and Mike have inspired me to work towards creating a foundation one day. Kudos to both for thier work.

Jo – I love Mike Holmes (I’m Canadian too, he’s practically an icon here!).

Jackie is correct. It was Lies and S*&t that spread that rumor. Someone on here found an offical press release from Aramani, and it turns out that it’s a different actress who is the new face of Aramani (I forget her name, though).

Personally, I can’t see Angie doing something like that (clothes, like when she did St. John’s, yes, but not a perfume), and I’m glad she’s not. I can only imagine what all the nay-sayers would say about her if she did!
