Here’s our first look at Bran Nue Dae, the flick that sees Aussie singers Jessica Mauboy and Missy Higgins make their cinematic debuts. They join Aussie film royalty in the form of Ernie Dingo, Deborah Mailman, Magda Szubanski, and the incomparable Geoffrey Rush. The film looks like great fun, a real change of pace from the gritty dramas the Aussie industry is so fond of churning out! Bran Nue Dae makes it premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival next month.

bran nue dae looks great – when will it be released in sydney?
I say this at MIFF and thought it was fantastic! Light hearted, funny and the project Baz Lurhman really should have taken on! Great cast and wonderful to see our beautiful country in a different light. Anyone know if a CD is going to come out for this?
There’s nothing on the release schedule so far Mandy, but I’m sure there’ll be a soundtrack on the way. I’m glad to hear this flick was as good as it looks!
Victoria, I thought I replied to you but my comment doesn’t seem to be here now. We had some comments getting deleted a while ago, so that might be why. I can’t find where I found it originally, but someone online said that the film was getting a national release in October. Hopefully that’s still true!
The film probably won’t be released till late this year (holiday season). and yes there will most probably be a CD around the same time too! though you might be able to find the old cast recordings from the original play floating around. I’ve got them at home.
Glad you liked it!
I actually worked sound on set.
