Publishers Weekly posted an article today about reality stars getting book deals. We already know how well Bethenny Frankel has done with Naturally Thin; it’s remained on the best-seller list consistently since its release.
Her colleagues at Bravo, however, are not so lucky. LuAnn de Lesseps book Class with the Countess only moved 5,000 copies since its release in April and Patti Stangers book Become Your Own Matchmaker sold 18,000 since its release in January of this year.
This doesn’t bode so well for Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, who have an urban parenting book coming out soon and Real Housewife of Atlanta Nene Leakes, who’s book Never Make the Same Mistake Twice is set to be released in a few weeks by Simon & Schuster.
It’s clear that this is just a popularity contest of sorts. Bethenny’s book has done so well because she is one of the most loved housewives and her book wasn’t about her, but about dieting, which people eat up (no pun intended, I promise!) Luann de Lesseps and Patti Stanger aren’t quite as well-loved by the fans, the former for her pretension about her title and the latter for for her.. well, for everything.
