Britney Spears is Having a Bad Week

Normally I ignore Britney Spears‘ antics. She seems to thrive on negative attention and feels the rules don’t apply to her. I think part of this stems from having too many “yes” people surrounding her at a young age. I also believe she’s mentally unbalanced. I submit for your consideration:

• The now-infamous head shaving incident. It was enough to send her to rehab, but rehab didn’t exactly sink in. Normal people don’t up and shave their heads.
• Her lackluster performance at the MTV awards. Here’s was Britney’s attempt to make a comeback and get on the road to recovery. Didn’t happen.
• Britney Spears’ love affair with the paparazzi. There are rumors that Britney Spears contacts the paparazzi herself, but I don’t know about that. I do know that she loves having them around. They pump her gas, pay for her cigarette lighters and one even accompanies her back to her hotel room on occasion.
• Erratic driving. Britney makes left turns on red lights, hits parked cars and doesn’t leave so much as a note, and drives like a maniac. It’s only a matter of time before she kills someone. I just hope it’s not her kids.
• Failure to comply with her custody agreement. This is the one that disturbs me the most. Britney claims to love her boys and be a great mom, but I’m not seeing it. She refuses to show up for depositions, is constantly under the influence, smokes and drinks in front of her kids and leaves them with the nanny so she can party.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, let’s just take a look at this week alone. Besides passing out at a nightclub just after midnight on New Year’s Eve, Britney Spears blew off yet another deposition, and showed up two hours late for a rescheduled depo. Then last night, while under the influence of what is presumed to be alcohol, Britney refused to give up custody of her kids. After a four hour standoff, she was taken to Cedars-Sinai for psychiatric evaluation.

Whatever ails Britney Spears can probably be controlled with meds, but I doubt she’ll take them. I’ll keep you posted. What a mess!
