The jury selection process for Britney Spears’ misdemeanor case was pretty anti-climatic. Britney herself was not even there as it was not necessary for her to present herself at that time. In the end not one juror was seated during the October 15th court date, though one ended up being dismissed because she had had contact in the past with Britney’s manager.
Reactions to the case in general were varied with one juror saying that the entire idea of an actual trial for this misdemeanor being “ridiculous”. Another stated the belief that the paparazzi were the ones to blame for the entire issue.
I’ll be honest, while I don’t think celebrities should automatically get off for their crimes, driving with a suspended license needn’t bring about an entire trial, especially when it involves someone like Britney Spears – not because she’s too good for the law, but rather because her appearance in a court is going to turn into another media circus. She should be fined and dealt with outside of the courts.
In other news, although she was not seen in court, Britney was recently photographed leaving Koi restaurant. Nothing like a good meal out to take your mind off your legal drama!
