Now that we’ve all enjoyed listening to “Womanizer” and “Circus”, Britney Spears has announced “If You Seek Amy” will be her third single off the “Circus” album. If you haven’t heard it yet, you can listen to it below:
I’m not jumping for joy because “If You Seek Amy” is not one of my favorite songs. I would have preferred “Out From Under” or “Kill the Lights”.
However, I am amused by the rumored trivia behind the title of the song. While I can’t find anything concrete to confirm it, it is well believed that the song was titled “If You Seek Amy” as a play on words, and that it’s actually meant to say “F-U-C-K Me”. By naming it “If You Seek Amy”, they were able to avoid a parental advisory for explicit lyrics.
On the other hand, the song “Blur” makes use of two explicit words right in the second line of the song (“This s**t’s way too f**king bright”) so I think it’s more that they wanted to avoid explicit words directly in a song title.
What do you think of the choice for Britney’s new single?

I don’t know when a demo was sent to some critics be4 the release they say that if you seek amy sounded like fuck me and they said that the song had no sense and it was the most ridiculous song she had ever recorded. ha ha he he ha ha ho?
I liked it at first but now I’m not too excited to hear it as a single
I would prefer Unusual You or manequinn as the rumors said b4.
I loooooveee Mmm Papi!
but as a single I would prefer KTL too
Well there’s nothing to do but I know the video is going to be awesome
I like the song and its a great play on the words but at the same time, I dont know if that was her intentions or not. I mean, you can hear “If you seek AMY” in the chorus. I can see where a younger child could get the F U C K me but as an older woman now, her music does have to grow with her. She cant keep doing the same ole pop stuff she use to do. People need to remember that.
I’m a little upset. I love this song and the clever play on words, but I wish it was lest as a treat for people who have the whole album. I think having it be a single and hearing it all the time, will make me like it less. Kill The Lights would be a great single.
so excited this is great song to dance too :)
