Britney Spears reaches settlement with photographer after running over his foot

It’s been two years since Britney Spears ran over the foot of a paparazzo trying to grab a photo of her as she drove off, and the legal case has finally reached an out-of-court settlement.

Photographer Ricardo Mendoza had most recently been seeking $230,000 in damages and medical expenses. There’s obviously no absolute word as to how much he ended up getting in the settlement but you can probably guess that it was around there.

Britney’s attorney described Mendoza as someone who “positioned and placed himself in the roadway in front of Ms. Spears’ vehicle.” Honestly, I agree with the attorney and I don’t think that Mendoza deserved much of anything beyond a courtesy settlement. The man didn’t get run over while he was minding his own business. He purposely stood in front of the car while Britney was trying to drive away and had his foot crushed as a result. That’s his fault, not hers.

Frankly, with the way the paparazzi swarm after celebrities, I’m really surprised this doesn’t happen more often!
