Brittany Snow in final talks for Gossip Girl spinoff

According to the Hollywood Reporter, teen star Brittany Snow is in final negotiations to take the lead role in the Gossip Girl spinoff for The CW.

In the spinoff, Snow would star as a young Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) in a prequel chronicling the wild teen years of Lily in Los Angeles during the 1980s.

According to the premise, after a fallout with her parents, Lily is forced to move in with her sister Carol (Krysten Ritter), the black sheep of the family. Lily will have to transition from a life of luxury in a boarding school to going to public school (OMG!).

Also cast is Shilo Fernandez (Jericho) as Owen, a hot Valley punk guy with unusual wit, according to THR.

The backdoor pilot for the spinoff is schedule to air May 11 as a special Gossip Girl episode.

Though Snow got her break as the star of NBC’s series American Dreams, she is more well known for her recent movies including John Tucker Must Die, Hairspray and Prom Night.

Enjoying teen flicks like John Tucker Must Die, I really liked Snow in the movie and believe she has a quiet comedic nature that comes across the screen. She seems to fit the “nice girl” image. I’m not sure she’s what I imagine for a young Lily, but she is one of my favorite young actresses and think she could pull off the role. Plus, I think she would draw in a good target audience who has followed her in her career.
