When Tom Cruise started calling Katie Holmes, Kate, the press and bloggers were sure she was going to bow down to the king and change her name to Kate. Well, as far as I can tell, Katie Holmes still goes by Katie Holmes.
OK! Magazine reports that Katie will not be using the name Kate for her Broadway debut, but will be sticking with Katie. That’s good to hear, since the name Katie Holmes rings a bell for most and Kate Holmes, well it just doesn’t sound right.
In other news, they say that John Lithgow is taking the stage name “Kate Lithgow” since Katie won’t be using it. LOL.
Geez, how many times did I use the words Katie and Kate in this story? Whatever.

Well altho imdb has her birth name listed as Kate Noell (I think) Katie is what we all know her by. I hope she holds onto it. That and the high heels are a part of her own personality..lol
people tom call her kate as a endearment he loves his wife so much that he takes her like she is high heels and all and he seems to love them so she was not going to change it im happy they have proven everbodyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wrong keep living your good life and ignore all the ****.

Her real name is Kate. Her father also called her Kate, her mother too. Her family call her Kate. It would not have been a big deal were it not for a group of irrational people who spin every thing Tom does.
April Maria, I heart you, the best response is keep happy while those who **** keep on doing just that. They are not going to go away, no use dwelling on them, 5 years, they will still be going on about the chances of this marriage of lack of. That is life, such people will always be there. It is better to concetrate on your own happiness, atleast you can control that.

Mary – that’s funny that she told Giant Magazine that her real name is Kate, because her birth name is Katherine (I could be spelling that wrong) Noelle Holmes. She was listed in her HS year books as both Kate and Katie, depending on the year, but Kate is most certainly a nickname, as is Katie, not a birth name.
Not to add fuel to the fire, but I recall Tom (whom I didn’t follow much before Katie) referring to Nicole as Nic during their marraig. I’ve noticed that no one calls her that anymore. I wonder if Tom just likes nicknames?
Nothing wrong with nicknames-I like Katie as Katie. Nothing wrong with Kate either, but it is unlikely that her fans would change to that name at this stage of her career.
Who but the fans are slicing and dicing her here? This discussion is NOT about whether their marriage will last and yet here it is brought up again. It is like you totally fanatical over the top fans have to bring negative to every thread here. She seems comfortable with Katie and I think it fits her personality.

Katie or Kate, they are both lovely names, but i think Katie is areally sweet name and ithink it suits her……….*Katie* there is someone amongst us who still calls NK, NIC. Tyler i might disagree with you guys sometimes but i would never call you haters or any other names ,you all come across as basically nice people , and some of you have different views to mine, andthat’s good . when i disagree, i’ii tell you so , and hope that you do the same. i have this problem , in that i tend to put myself in other peoples shoes, when you take away the wealth and the fame they are only human, like the rest of us,in every way.

Thanks Annie. I think different opinions make things interesting and it is why I stay even when I get jumped on now and then. And I tend to agree. Aside from the money and fame, they still are human-beings with I would say the same issues and desires most of us have. Being so much more high profile, it is difficult I would imagine to keep things together. Tom does like to live larger than life tho and in doing so, I guess it does draw out more discussion on him and his family. Some really famous people like to keep it more normal and out of Hollywood i.e. Sandra Bullock, even Julia Roberts, Johnny Depp lives in France and darn if we never get to see much of him unless he is promoting a movie. Hollywood is a very tough town to live in and have any kind of decent life in.. I am sure that TC’s lifestyle hasn’t changed. He has always traveled and lived large- the difference now is that he allowed it to get in front of the public way back when he and katie started their very public movie promo tours and falling in love thing. With the internet and the media frenzy on anything that will make a buck, it was probably in retrospect, a decision he now regrets, but it as they say is too late to try to shut the barn door when that horse has long since left the building!!

Tom calls her KATE, He calls his daughter BELLA (Isabella) and His ex NIC (Nicole). Just because he does, it doesn’t mean she is going to change it…she never said she’d, that is just gossip. :sigh:
E! News did a special on Katie where her sisters and parents were interviewed in either 2001 or 2002 and in that special her family called her Kate……. That is fact.
Chris Klein also called her Katie……..That is also fact.
Katie is on record as saying her friends and family call her Kate, way before TC ever came into her life…..That is fact.

Darin, unless you have Katie’s birth cetificate in your hands, I still think we should take what comes out of her mouth. There are interviews on the internet and on Youtube of Katie explaining about her name both before and after Tom. The only reason a big deal was made out of this is to make Tom seem like a controlling spouse who was brainwashing her and stifling her. Thankfully, those controlling stories have faded like most lies do eventually.

OMG, my wish just came true. There’s a new sighting of Suri Cruise at X17Online.com. Suri is still on bottle and that bangs is really long now. Can’t see Suri’s face clearly. But both look lovely in their matching black-and-white stripes.
As I said, she is listed as both Katie and Kate (depending on the years) in her high school yearbooks, so yes it is a name that goes back before showbiz, bfore Tom. (Though personally I prefer Katie, but I could be biased, LOL) Not wanting to make a bit deal, but just wanted to point it out. Her mom refers to her as Katie when writing to me – but the names are basically interchangable. My own mom refers to me both as Katie and Kate, but mostly Katie because I my dad’s never been big on nicknames (and Katie’s my birth name).
Annie – I wasn’t trying to offend anyone (I thought I picked up on some defenseness in your comment, my apologies if I interpreted it wrong) with my comment about NK being Nic, it was just an observation of a pattern of behavior. I don’t really follow NK’s career so I don’t know much about her, and never followed Tom much before Katie.

Looika, really? you think that picture is great of them?? I love pictures of Katie and Suri but that is one of the worst I have seen. Katie looks positively ill or something and Suri looks rather unkempt. If we could compare pictures of Suri say just 2-3 months ago and Katie too.. there is something going on with them. I don’t know what it is for sure, but since Dec-Jan when Katie and Suri just sort of shone and Katie did seem happy during that time; Katie has seemed to care less and less how she and Suri look. I wasn’t one who wanted the child in designer clothes every minute but dressed well and hair cared for used to be the norm and now it is getting to be rather rare. Suri still holding a bottle, diaper hanging loosely, hair, well just messy. Just 3 or 4 months ago, I was certain that both Katie and Suri were both getting their hair done. Suri never showed up anywhere and she was out and about a lot back then without every hair in place, dressed up in the latest designer clothes. Don’t jump me on this one. Can’t post anything here but there IS a drastic difference in Katie and Suri’s appearance in the last few months. Go back into the archives and look for yourselves. I am quite concerned about the recent trends we are seeing unfold before our very eyes.

I know (as I’m sure every girl can concur with me) that growing out your bangs is difficult, and there’s that awkward transition where they just plain look odd, but I’m wondering if some barrettes would help keep the hair out of Suri’s eyes? It would definitely improve the over-all hair look. Who knows though? Maybe Suri’s the type of kid who doesn’t like anything in her hair.
I’m not sure, did Katie get her hair cut again, or is is just not styled in these photos? I miss her long hair! (don’t mind me, I dont apapt well to change, lol. Just when I get used to one of her hair styles, it’s changed again!)
The diaper was what surprised me, because I didn’t know Suri still wore one, (plus like c. mom said, Suri’s always been dressed to the nines) but from what I know about potty-training (I’m not a mom) consistancy is a necessity. Katie & Tom’s jet-setting lifestyle doesnt really mix with potty training (or for giving up a bottle either, which at this age is often used more for comfort than dispersal of food). Just some thoughts…
Always happy to see new pics of Katie & Suri, so I guess if I wasn’t commenting on what was in the pics, I’d be lamenting on the lack there of, LOL!!
C. mom, Katie does have health problems, so I sometimes wonder if the traveling takes a toll on her more than a healthier person. Maybe she just wasnt feeling well that day…
i agree katie just does’nt look right. i’ve mentioned this before, afew weeks ago when she was in N.Y on her own, her apearance changes from happy healthy to unwell and drawn and honestly i noticed it from when they were in germany , and its true she’s not looking after herself or suri , the way she used to. i can’t help myself but i’m going to say it, i really feel that this girl is depressed and i honestly hope i’m wrong with all my heart, because i like her so much, and all i can say is, i would never want my daughter to have to deal with the pressures that this girl has had to deal with , for the last few years. yes i know , we’re always told how graciously she deals with everything, but i wonder sometimes whether she’s stretched to the limits , emotionally sometimes. NK was with tom ,when his star shone the highest and brightest, katie has been with tom through his most difficult times, and they must have been difficult indeed, nor are they over yet, with VALKYRIE due out soon. katie is too young to have had to deal with all these external pressures in her marriage , sometimes she looks like , she’s aged so much in such a short time, katie never wore those sought of clothes , that she wore to the awards the other night, although she looked well in the face. my god ,i’ve gone on and on , but they have been my thoughts for a very long time.

I just saw the video over at x17 and she looks fine to me. You don’t honestly expect Suri to be all dressed up for a dance class, do you? I like that Katie’s wearing short. On the pics, she squinting her eyes due to camera flashes.
Just thinking about spending time with a 2 years old, travelling all over the place and rehearsing for a play must be tiring but looks like Katie is doing fine….and still manage to dress up so cute.

If that is the case, maybe its because “Katie” is her professional name and her mom uses that when writing but they call her Kate.

I think it’s fantastic that KH is confident enough to give the makeup a rest, more women should do it.
I think she looks just fine in those pics…………..She picked up her child, smiled slighty at the cameras clicking away and left.
We haven’t seen many pics of the family since they moved into their new home, seems to me that they’re enjoying a home of their own at last.
Can’t wait to see KH on Broadway and I’m sure the preparations for that must be exhausting with the move to NYC and house hunting there.

Mind you, even if they were, some of them will be complaining about “why is katie all dressed up to pick up her daughter from a dance class? I’m just happy to see this family doing things like, picking up their daughter from a dance class and being so casual and getting on with their lives.
Katie is picking up her two year old from dance class, it would be downright ridiculous to make sure she looks “just right” before leaving……….The child is two and I think both she and her mom look adorable.
We might live in a celeb obsessed/cameras constantly in your face/capture every milisecond of a life world but there are moments that should just be………………one of them is being able to pick up your child from dance class and letting it just be that, without it turning into a diagnosis of the mother and child’s mental/physical state.
Jennifer Garner is another mother who goes out and about with no makeup looking tired, without a care in the world…which I love.
In one of the pics Suri seems to be smiling through drinking from her bottle…………….That child is just too cute!
Suri is just too ADORABLE for words and beautiful. She looks like katie, with many of TC’s beautiful strong features, especially the eyes.

concerned mom, I didn’t say they looked great. I only said they looked lovely. Katie was wearing light make up. Someone who usually wear heavy make up tends to look pale without or with light make up. (Can you imagine how Christina Aguilera looks like without make up). Like I said before Suri’s bangs is way too long covering her eyes nevertheless, she is still a beautiful girl.

Those pics were taken in a split second (as seen from the video). Both look adorable and Katie smiled slightly at the cameras, and I think like Mary said, Suri was smiling too.
The same people saying Katie looks tired say that all the time. Even 2-3 months ago, they said she had dead eyes and looked tired especially after mad money. I would get their exact quotes but that would be labouring the point.
Katie looks like any working mother of a two year old in the evening, not worse than Heidi Klum or Jeniffer Garner who also look exhausted sometimes. It is natural. Infact for the last 2-3 Months, Suri has been looking unkempt but Katie is her normal self, sometimes tired, sometimes glowing. Remove your magnifying glasses and give the girl a break. She doesn’t have to dress to the nines all the time. It is evening, she has a play coming up and she went to pick her daughter personally. She could have sent a chauffeur. Kingston is still wearing diapers, big deal? I am sure Suri will not be wearing them or have a bottle at 15!
My point, give this girl a break, I have seen pictures of Katie looking beat and worn before she met Tom, some on the red carpet. She is human like you and me.
