American Idol 3 runner-up Camille Velasco just posted a video on her YouTube (CamilleTV) doing an acoustic version of Colby Odonis’ What You Got. Watch it below.
I loved it. If you guys remember Camille Velasco was the other Filipina-American girl during the 3rd season of American Idol. The other one was Jasmine Trias who made it to Top 3. In the beginning of the show Camille showed her talents in playing instruments through home tapes. Besides the guitar, she can also play piano, trained since she was a little one. Camille has a very soulful voice that reminds me of Joss Stone. She was one of my favorites. But she wasn’t ready for the big time. Her nervousness ultimately was her downfall.
Present day, I’m glad to see that she’s trying to get her talent out there. YouTube can be very helpful sometimes. I wish Camille Velasco all the best. The music industry is a very hard and tough business to get into. Especially the Pop Music genre. You really gotta have the complete package to even get one step closer to knock on the door. Camille is supposedly working on her debut album set to come out this Fall 2008 and a new single is coming out this Summer. Can’t to hear more about it.
As for Camille’s cover of What you Got, it’s alright I guess. Nothing extravagant but I do appreciate her playing the guitar. I love it when Pop Artists can actually play an instrument

I love Camile’s voice and personality. I found her youtube channel a few months back and it seems she’s more confident as well mature. And yes, her “musician” side coming out is a bonus!
Love the song. Camille must get her music ability from her fathers side. Camille do you keep in contact with your father, Will. He is a long time friend of mine. How about doing a concert in Yokosuka, Japan just like Martin Nievera did?
