Performance #8 – Matt Rapley
Matt did a whole lot better this week in my opinion. He sang “You Raise Me Up” and it was a nice variation on the original. I liked him tonight!

KJ – The second we (me and my family) saw Matt in the audition round, we were stunned. We couldn’t believe a singer like that came out of Canada nevermind the prairies! I completely agree about the soul singing thing. Actually, last week I wasn’t totally thrilled with Matt’s performance (it wasn’t terrible, though) but I told my kids that I really felt that part of the problem is that it is hard to be the “soul singer” on a show like Idol in Canada and the few faults really could have been nerves.
I hope Matt continues to improve and do well in the competition – Lord knows we need someone like him.
Matt’s my little brother…he is tearing it up. It’s such a pity Canada doesn’t take soul singers seriously – but I believe that Matt’s gonna do it big. You can’t ignore us, Canada!!
