Canadian Idol Producer – Elimination of Toronto Singers “Disgraceful”

elimination june28

The producer of Canadian Idol is not happy that Canadians didn’t vote for the singers from Toronto.

After three singers from Toronto were eliminated Wednesday, John Brunton said, “I’m not really supposed to do this. I’m supposed to be impartial. But as a born and bred Torontonian, I’m fed up with the lack of attention and respect paid to the bright, young singers from Toronto. They deserve more. It should not be a disadvantage to be a ‘Canadian Idol’ competitor from Toronto.”

He called the lack of support “disgraceful,” and said, “While the rest of the country is buzzing about ‘Canadian Idol’ and the success of their hometown heroes, Toronto is not paying attention. Toronto is not supporting the local talent found right in its own backyard,”

The CP reports that “[t]hree Toronto competitors were eliminated on Wednesday’s ‘Idol’ results show on CTV, leaving just three in the Top 18. More people audition for the singing show in Toronto than in any other city, Brunton said, yet no one from the city has made it to the Top 10 since the first season when three contestants accomplished the feat.”

Yeah… I think he should have kept this to himself maybe but I kinda see the logic. It’s weird…

I am very bothered by the whole fact that Canadian Idol is cancelled. I have wanted to go on since I was young and finaly I feel I can actually succeed and it is cancelled. I cannot even begin to tell you how upset I am by the whold fact that it was ever cancelled!! Canadian Idol should have kept going. What is going on??!?!?!?!? I’m confussed!

If John Brunton wants Torontonians to support Torontonians, he may wish to have a small discussion with his “expert” judges. The advice could be…..”When you have superstars such as Jessica Sheppard from Bowmanville, you put them IN the top 22, not OUT”. Why should Torontonians support no talents especially when the show itself shuts out people who are infinitely more talented than the group we’re given to vote on!

John Brunton, Canadian Idol’s executive producer exemplifies why Toronto is so hated from coast to coast. It so aspires to be “World Class” when it is in fact closer to “No Class”. Arrogant and pompous are how Torontonians are perceived. Here’s hoping that the remaining three get voted off, …just because.

Oh please! Now he’s pushing regional voting? Sorry, but I vote with my ears! And that Derek Hoffman kid was horrible. In fact, he was the worst singer I’ve ever heard on any season of CI or AI. The guy in the white hat made me cringe. And that blonde girl was entirely forgettable.
