Matt Rapley was eliminated tonight. It’s sad but I understand it. There were three contestants that I felt similarly about and he was one of them. Here’s my advice: take that beautiful voice of yours, gain some experience and/or training, work on your confidence and stage presence and you’ll be awesome!!!!
Did you agree with tonight’s decision?

I haven’t seen the show yet, but I’m… well, I agree with the decision, but I’m a little surprised. I thought he had quite a fan following.
I thought Carly was going home for sure, in light of the fact that phone service was cut off for a large chunk of Vancouverites yesterday (construction crews sliced through the phone lines that served a couple thousand people… oops!).
I thought Matt would have been in the final 2 as he has the best voice. I think Brian Melo will win it all!!
Jaydee should have been voted off.
Not surprised – Canada is so void of soul, and they don’t CARE for soul singers. Greg was a bit of soul/pop/rock and look at how they treated the poor guy
Matt will fare much better WITHOUT Canadian Idol.
maby he will be better without canadein idol i meen look how well some canadien idol or amarican idol singers are doing and they didnt win
matt has terrible control of his voice…
im not sure what he did with higher ground cos i havent listened, but what he did with Michael buble’s Everything was horrendous. he destroyed that beautiful song…
jaydee impressed me for the 1st time yesterday, he put so much into his singing and his performance…
he’s even the 1st to really impress me the whole season… his performance yest had more power and energy than greg’s We are the champions… sorry.
L – I do believe Matt has a big fan following. I disagree with Zack when he says Canada decides because, really, the results are decided by whomever votes the most. That is what I think ruins the show.
Megan – I thought Matt would outlast Dwight d’Eon, at the very least. After everything that has happened and with some of my faves off the show, I’d have to go with Brian also.
Matt’s Big Sister – Canada definitely surprised me this season. I have to agree with you – Greg, Matt and Khalila were really dealt raw deals. Matt has got a very bright future. He’s a very talented guy!
Megan – I agree with you. Sometimes it’s better to lose.
I wish I could say that I was surprised, but I wasn’t. I thought he totally rocked “Higher Ground” and deserved to stay way more than Jaydee who has yet to find his own voice and stop mimicking others. (I don’t see what the fuss was about his performance last night, it seemed exactly the same as every other one of his performances to me.) But Matt does have some growing to do in the performance department so that his stage presence can catch up to his incredible voice. Hopefully he’ll just use this as a starting point for his career.
i disagree, i never really liked any of jaydee’s performances except for yest’s one.
and that IS the way jaydee sings… that IS his voice… it is so stylised that you cant just change it…
Then we’re going to have to agree to disagree because I don’t believe for a heartbeat that he would sound that way if he’d had the time to mature as a singer and discover who Jaydee really is.
Well that was wrong but predictable. If Brian doesn’t win this thing, I hope it is Jaydee. Just to show how utterly ridiculous this whole season has been. Hmmm, I wonder who will be stuck with the dreaded first spot next week.
carly is going to win, even though I want brain or if that doesn’t work out I would want jaydee to win. but carly is going to win.
I think it was the right decision for Matt to go home, although I think that Carly should have been gone a while ago.
Shonac – I do think that Matt has to control his voice a bit better because it(sometimes) turns into something that I don’t really want to hear
I thought he should have been voted off… that was the first performance the entire season i enjoyed by him or that i thought he showed any emotion… had he showed that emotion earlier on in the competition i might have cheered for him a bit more… hes talented he will do just fine … i think he still needs to find a more modern way of portraying his style. ya dig
[...] Canadian Idol Results – August 21, 2007 [...]
jaydee needs to go , hes just not up to the standards of the others. Brian and Carly Rae should be top 2
i don’t care what you say, jaydee is awesome
Way overdue.
I was unable to view Monday (21) program – however – now we are down to eliminations – individual performances are not as big a factor.
Consider – How is each contestant growing through it all?
Matt has some maturity to gain – but when he hits it right – AWESOME – My guess is – his dad’s chirch will have a few more members now…
Brian has ben very consistent in his performances – he has found his groove and is comfortable – easy to listen to – he will be a top contender.
Carley is probably the only contestant whom I would buy a solo CD of – she absolutely owned the stage when she did the QUEEN number – not just vocally – outfit – flick of the arm – eye contact – intereaction with the band (keyboardist). For a 16 year old – she is a phenom – she has a magic about her that starts way down deep –
JayDee – is only 16 he struggles with image and consistency – he is too happy to be there – the GRIN says it all- BUT – when he gets it right – he is heartstopping in an elvis way – he will be famous, and soon – no doubt about it – he just won’t get it all this year – it is not his time – He is a unique country voice – elvis retro – and will be HUGE – i would say by the time he is 19 – his albums will be rolling bigtime.
final analysis
At this stage of the game – there are no losers – we are not deciding who is good – they all are – we are deciding who gets the title.
My picks –
Top 2 – Carlee and Brian
Winner – Carlee
how it will probablygo – Carlee and JayDee
Winner – Carlee –
Who should win – Brian – it is his time –
Carlee and JayDee have another year or two to capitalizeon growth and maturity – it would do well for them to wait.
Sometimes premature launches don’t fly as far…
I was not sure about this years prospects 6 weeks back – but the finalists have proven to be great!!!! this is one of the best years down to the wire…
GH, very interesting analysis, however, Carly Rae is older than 16.
Liss – you are so right – Carly Rae is 21 – still – she has a unique style and sound that will be her trademark
She does not try to imitate anyone else – because she doesn’t need to…
And she is secure in her abilities not to want to imitate others
i still say she will take the day
brian has a good voice, but he really doesnt know how to make a song climax.
