I’m sorry. When I saw this segment on Canadian Idol tonight, I almost peed my pants. It’s very clear that American Idol‘s Canadian counterpart has less money and depends more on sponsors: Ben Mulroney used to consult the Honey Nut Cheerios Recap and now it’s the Old El Paso Recap. There’s a flipping Cheerios or Old El Paso logo next to the contestants’ name and it is soooo distracting. They also have had segment/skits shamelessly promoting LG phones.
Tonight, they introduced the “Kraft Kitchen Confidential” segment and it is hilarious. Did anyone see Talladaga Nights? Remember that scene all about product placement, well this is it in real life. Doesn’t Ford or Coca Cola want us? :)

Lol. Yeah, it is distracting and a bit… embarrasing.
American Idol gets sponsoored by a car company that is both respected and well known. But Canadian Idol is sponsored by a Mexican food and cereal. A bit embarrassing. It woulnd’t be as much if they didn’t have to advertise the company in these not-very-entertaining segments.
Now we know why the voting has been so strange. The sponsors have been voting or deciding
ha ha ha, I must have missed that last night. Must have been thirsty or something LOL. I guess the sponsors don’t want to go all big budget staged commercials like Ford does for American Idol so this is the next best thing. I actually like being able to see a little more of their personalities this way. Better than Ben interviewing them on a stool with a staged question. LOL.
