American Idol season 5 winner, Carrie Underwood, recently went back to Africa for Idol Gives Back where she filmed a segment about preventing the spread of malaria through the use of bed nets.
She stressed that, while the money from Idol Gives Back has made a huge difference, a lot more still needs to be done to help. It’s so incredible (and incredibly sad) that something as small as a bed net could save so many lives and costs so little, yet it’s almost inaccessible to those in Africa. I am not only happy that Idol Gives Back has been helping but I’m also glad that they are raising awareness about how some global tragedies can be prevented. ![]()

[...] Carrie Underwood Revisits Africa For Idol Gives Back (idolstalker.com) [...]
I would like to find the video that was shown during the Idol show and download that – any ideas???
thanks,
B
The “Africa” Version on American Idol is from A Montreal Singer Named Karl Wolf. The Album Is called Bite the Bullet! The album is amazing…check it out!
thanks alot :)
Oh great, thanks Louie! I am kind of embarassed though, thinking it was a cappella–I guess the clip they played during the segment did sound really “produced” to be a cappella, but you’d be surprised at how it can sound when a creative studio gets a hold of a cappella tracks. If anyone is interested, get Hullabahoos CD’s (they’re from Univ. of VA)–close friends of mine. They kick you-know-what!
Thanks, Louie!!
OK guys.. I found it! It’s Africa performed by Karl Wolf and I believe it’s the Radio Edit. It can be found on Itunes.
I too am searching for the version of “Africa” used on the May 12th American Idol segment done by Carrie Underwood. It sounded absolutely beautiful and would enjoy listening to its full version.
I’m looking for the group, too. Straight No Chaser does an awesome a capella version of the song, but I don’t think it was them.
Does anyone know what the song is at the beggining of the video?
Does anyone know who sings the “Africa” song that was playing in the background of this segment? It sounded like an a cappella group and I REALLY liked it but can’t find that version anywhere. Thanks!
