Celebrate Brooklyn Shows Announced

The Prospect Park Band Shell has played host to some amazing shows the past few summers (i.e. Manu Chao, Yo La Tengo, Malajube). This summer should be no different. The NY Times writes:

Celebrate Brooklyn will open its 30th season on June 12 with a performance by Isaac Hayes. This summer’s lineup for the free concert series at the Prospect Park band shell includes Miriam Makeba; Beth Orton; a screening of the Bruce Leemovie “Enter the Dragon,” with live accompaniment by Karsh Kale; a tribute to the R&B singer Bill Withers; and a benefit by Feist.”

Here’s the schedule so far. Most of the shows will be free:

June 12 – Isaac Hayes (first show of the season)
June 14 – Miriam Makeba
June 24 – Gilberto Gil (tix)
July 9 – Feist (tix on Friday)
July 12 – Beth Orton, Matt Munisteri
July 19 – Screening of Enter the Dragon with Karsh Kale/Soh Daiko
August 2 – The Sippy Cups, Father Goose
