Charlie O'Connell Relishes Uncle Role

It hasn’t taken long for Charlie O’Connell to fall for his new nieces. Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, the first children for Rebecca Romijn and Charlie’s brother Jerry O’Connell, were born on December 28.

Charlie had heard through his mom that one twin may share his name, but he insists it was “still a surprise.”

“I’ve never had someone named after me,” he told People. “That’s a first.”

But don’t think Charlie will favor Charlie Tamara Tulip!

“I think I’ll love them both the same,” he insists.

Charlie first met his nieces while they were in hospital with Rebecca. He said baby Charlie takes after her daddy, while Dolly has “blonder hair” and is “cute as anything.”

The girls are now resting at home with their parents, who are both suffering from a severe case of sleep deprivation!

“At the moment [Rebecca and Jerry] are like, ‘Hey, call whenever,’” Charlie shares. “I feel bad but it seems like they’re always up; When they say call whenever they pretty much mean it.”

It’s a situation which has Charlie relishing his uncle status!

“I’m really looking forward to being an uncle. It seems like such a fun thing. I don’t have to deal with any of the hassles. I’ve got the best job of all of them.

“I’m excited for when they start walking and talking,” he said. “Every time I go to a Toys ‘R Us or a baby section I look at it in a whole different light.”

It sounds like those twins are going to be seriously spoiled!
