Charm School Star Thela Brown Stars in Play of Lesbian Love

Thela Brown

Thela Brown, a reality-star best known for her emotional outbursts on VH1’s hit shows FLAVOR OF LOVE and CHARM SCHOOL, is currently starring in a play of African-American lesbian love and tragedy entitled “Private Thoughts on Cumming Out.” The play, written by playwright/filmmaker Joy Shani A’Che, showcases stories of African-American lesbians seeking love at points in history when such unions would easily result in persecution or worse. In a unique twist, these lesbian stories are enacted by straight actresses.

Brown joins the cast as Woman Two, a privileged New York socialite during the Harlem Renaissance who hangs out regularly with the likes of Langston Hughes. Brown’s character finds herself falling in love with an unexpected wo man who doesn’t fit her world’s definition of proper or privileged. She has to risk status and her heart for the possibility of love.

Reality fans hoping to catch Brown screaming at a fellow cast mate will be disappointed. Other cast includes Mary Robinson who plays an enslaved woman who finds passion on her plantation and Jakquelyn Smith who seeks a connection in the Black Panther Party. “Private Thoughts On Cumming Out” will play at the Complex Theater at 6476 Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood from October 26 – 28, 2007 and November 2 -4, 2007.

The play and actress’s pages can visited online at www.privatethoughtstheplay.com
