Christina Aguilera 101: Music To Her Ears ~ Another Sad Love Song

With just two more songs to talk about during Christina Aguilera’s New Mickey Mouse Club (MMC) years, I think I might have found the best of them.

In this video clip, Christina sings Toni Braxton’s 1993 hit Another Sad Love Song. Braxton was known for her husky voice and she had a string of hits in the 90s, including this one. 

While at MMC, Christina Aguilera tackled all the tops hits, which was pretty gutsy.  But she had the pipes and she didn’t simply pull it off — she sang each song as though she owned it from the start.

Christina singing Another Sad Love Song should have garnered her some sort of award, because I don’t know of many 13 or 14 year olds who can sing one of the day’s most popular hits equally as well, if not better, than the original singer. But Christina did.

Try listening to Toni first.  Then close your eyes as you listen to Christina and tell me that you don’t think she sings it just as well as Toni!  I dare you…try! I’ll never believe you if you say otherwise!

Christina sings Another Sad Love Song with an incredibly sultry voice.  She has such passion as she performs it with depth and emotion, and you really feel it’s hers.  And when it comes time for the final “OOOH”, you wonder if she’s going to stay in a lower octave or if she’s actually going to go for the high note.  I’ll let you find out which she does now!

And yes…I actually owned that Toni Braxton record!
