Christina Aguilera Fashion Rocks5 ~ What Gives?

Today I’m a bit annoyed.  Earlier, I received an email update from Conde Nast announcing news about Fashion Rocks5.  I was very happy to get the email, but once again, the announcement didn’t list Christina Aguilera as a performer (see ad on following page!).

On the announcement, there is a new Web site link – www.fashionrockslive.com.  This was also a bit annoying because this was the third Web site that we’d been sent to for the Fashion Rocks event.  However, the new AOL site is filled with all kinds of information, whereas the other two were not.

Not seeing Christina Aguilera’s name on the Fashion Rocks5 ad below, I again wondered…is she, or isn’t she?

The ad is VERY clear.  It says “Performances by Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Chris Cornell, Duffy, Fergie……and introducing Solange.” 

So Fergie gets two mentions in her own name and the Black Eyed Peas, but no Christina Aguilera? Then I thought, maybe Christina’s NOT performing and is only participating as a speaker or host.

Here’s the kicker…When you hop over to the new fashionrockslive Web site, Christina IS listed as a Featured Performer, underneath Justin Timberlake, Rhianna, Beyonce and Mariah.  -- (saving the best for last perhaps?) So I guess this means Christina is performing…right?

Let’s get back to why I’m annoyed.  I don’t mind when we’re not told something because it’s a surprise or it’s not yet confirmed.  And as you recall from my prior post I was hesitant to even post that she’d be performing because I couldn’t confirm the news.  Some Web sites had her listed, but even the Conde Nast Web site did not. (Thanks to Mona for our AguileraBuff confirmation!)

Putting everything aside — that perhaps the original marketing materials forgot to list her — it doesn’t explain today’s announcement and Christina’s omission from the ad!  I find it a bit insulting to Christina that she is not listed in the official marketing materials through Conde Nast.  As a writer, I try to dot my Is and cross my Ts and get my facts straight.  Why is it so difficult for the organizers of the Fashion Rocks5 event and its marketing team to not be ambiguous and make it clear and official either way?  As a writer, I’m annoyed.  As a fan, a bit more than annoyed. I just want to KNOW!  HA!

Well, there IS a saying..when you want something done…do it yourself (if you want to know something, go find out yourself!).  Maybe I’ll just have to make my way to Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sept 5th and see if I can see Ms. Aguilera for myself! — I think I may just have to do that and let you all know then!!!
