Christina Aguilera must have really enjoyed working with songwriter Claude Kelly on her new album, “Light & Darkness” because she decided to team up with him again for the Burlesque soundtrack.

Kelly spoke about his songwriting experience with Christina, though he wasn’t clear whether he was referring to songs on “Light & Darkness”, the soundtrack, or perhaps both. Either way, he sounded happy enough!
“I know that because of the state of the economy and the recession that people really want to hear songs that explain their feelings or songs that really speak the truth about what is going on. [...] People have less patience for bull right now. They want to hear music that is real and music that makes them feel good.”
I think that’s generally true no matter what the economy is doing though. While a really heartbreaking sad song has its place, unless you’re nursing your own broken heart it’s just more fun to listen to a happy, upbeat song.
There is still no confirmed release date for Christina’s album, just that it will be out in 2010. I’m really looking forward to it, and the fact that we’ll actually end up with two new albums when you add in the soundtrack is a nice bonus!
