American Idol season 2 runner-up, Clay Aiken, performed at a gala held by the Bubel-Aiken Foundation in Raleigh, North Carolina this weekend. The event, titled the “Champions of Change” aimed to promote programs for children with disabilities. A silent auction was held where bidders got a chance to get their hands on clothing worn by Clay.
Here’s a video of him performing the Richard Marx hit “Right Here Waiting.” It is a tender, subdued and just vocally excellent performance. Check it out:

Love the man and the voice. All I can say is WOW!
I attended the Gala Saturday night. What a wonderful evening! Clay performed 5 songs that were all magnificent. But the linked performance of Right Here Waiting was very, very special.
If you really want to hear him hit the ball out of the ballpark, as usual, “Where I Draw The Line” same night about 3:23 on YouTube. Also check out “Everything I Don’t Need” same night. Unreal.Does he ever have a bad night singing, I think not.
Watched ‘Everything I Don’t Need’ and it is great. I love the song and Clay singing it. I also like the short, darker hair. He is just a great guy.
Thank you for blogging about this great event. I did a montage using some of that song – well, actually ALL of the song, I meant some of the footage:

Speaking of the silent auction and the clothes. Clay’s leather jacket from his Juke Box tour went for $56,000!!!
