Clay Aiken Reflects on an Eventful 2008

Clay's handprint ceremony American Idol star, Clay Aiken, has had quite a year in 2008.  It was filled with life-changing moments and his fans (most of them anyway) have stood by his side through every moment.  He’s even spoken about the amazing support he’s seen through this year’s ups and downs.  He said: "We’ve been very impressed and my heart has been thoroughly warmed to find people very supportive."

This year, Clay became a father for the first time when his best friend, Jaymes Foster, gave birth to little Parker.

Next, Clay publicly announced that he is gay and has embraced the truth about his sexuality ever since, even making humorous reference to it in an appearance on the short-lived variety show Rosie Live!

What’s Clay planning for 2009 (his run in the Broadway show, Spamalot, ends on January 4th)?  "I want to spend time with Parker,” he says. “He’s still uber-dependent.  I’m ready for him to start talking. I’m ready for a little action!  We’ll take a little bit of time, we’re not quitting or anything, we’re just gonna take it slow for a month or so and recollect once I get back.  I may never have any free time once Parker starts walking and talking!"

I think that sounds like a perfect plan.  I know that there are days, as a mother, when I wish I could just slow down and enjoy it more so I can’t imagine how crunched for time someone like Clay is!  I wish him all the best in the new year!

Very nice write-up on Clay, thanks Jeanne. I just wish I knew who he’s referring to when he says “we” lol He’s had quite the year hasn’t he? I wish him all the best in the coming year as well. Love that guy!

OOO OOOO *raises hand* can I comment on “we”???? I think he’s probably talking about himself and his executive producer/the mother of Parker Foster Aiken – Jaymes Foster!!!! That’s my guess anyway LOL!!!!!

Thanks for the nice article!!! Here’s hoping that Clay, Jaymes & Parker have a wonderful holiday season!!!

and Clay, if you’re reading this, once they start talking they don’t stop ;-) oh and please tour for On My Way Here – I love your new CD, like lots!!!

I think the “we” relates to HIS family too. The year for him has been stellar and no more than he derserves. The new addition to his life, little Parker and one very special mommy, Jaymes hopefully mean that Clays life is more enriched that he’d ever thought – even though the sleepness nights ahead might make him think otherwise!!

Good luck with 2009 Clay – I hope it brings you as many smiles as you do to us

    Merry Christmas Jeanne!

I hope Clay and “Team Clay” (Clay, Parker, Jaymes, Fay, Brett, Jerome, Jamie, and all) have a happy holiday season and enjoys the starting 2009 with a little time off with family and friends. Probably the only ‘down’ times for Clay is created by the media so my wish to the media is to live and let live and let celebrities personal lives be just that.
