Lionsgate and China Glaze have released the official color palette from their Hunger Games nail polish collection. As we reported, “Colours from the Capitol” is inspired solely by Panem’s lavish, beauty-obsessed Capitol. As one of the earlier press releases states, Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.
You’ll see in the photo above that they’ve used the same twelve colors from the original leak and renamed them—and to be honest, I liked the original names better. Even though other fansites mocked the original palette (which might have led to the renaming), “Cinna-mon” and “Catnip” were better than the vague “Dress Me Up” and “Agro.” Ah, well.
What’s cool is that one of the readers at The Hob noticed that while the colors might pertain to the Capitol, they’re also very clearly influenced by the twelve districts of Panem. Here’s her breakdown:
Luxe and Lush – District 1 (Luxury)
Stone Cold – District 2 (Masonry)
Riveting – District 3 (Technology)
Hook and Line – District 4 (Fishing)
Electrify – District 5 (Power)
Fast Track – District 6 (Transportation)
Mahogany Magic – District 7 (Lumber)
Dress Me Up – District 8 (Textiles)
Harvest Moon – District 9 (Grain)
Foie Gras – District 10 (Livestock)
Agro – District 11 (Agriculture)
Smoke and Ashes – District 12 (Mining)
“Colours from the Capitol” will be available in stores March 1, 2012.

Never read the books but I did imagine earthy colors and a mossy green when I heard CG was doing a collection probably because of the trailer of the movie was really earthtoned. I actually like the new names better, might not be as appealing to someone who loves the books but more appealing to those new to them or not interested in the movie/books. So gorgeous, I want the whole collection. Gah, between this one and the Let it Snow collection for the holiday my wallet is going to be hurting.
I love the colors and I am glad they’re the same but I liked the old names better.
