It’s the weekend and, if you are like me, you might be planning to pull out the barbecue and relax in your backyard. The steak is very popular for summer grilling but, after a while, you might run out of ideas of what to serve it with. Sometimes I make a baked potato and round out the meal with fruit or salad but that can get boring after a while. I thought it was great when the Today show offered up some great side dish suggestions.
The chef from the Wynn in Las Vegas said that fresh vegetables are great for side dishes. Of course, he put a new spin on them! He paired corn with jalapenos and sweet white onions to make a yummy looking custard. It looked fairly easy to make (he only added cream, cumin and coriander) so I might give it a try!
He also made a salad with heirloom varieties of tomatoes including the standard red tomato along with green and yellow ones. He topped it with giant onion rings (raw, not the deep fried kind!) and, again, it just looked really simple to make!
